hey
well my car had been off the road and not driven far for the last few months, anyways started driving it again. no worries..

i installed an oil catch can, has a breather on it...blocked up the appropriate holes on the turbo inlet and inlet manifold. anyways ive noticed its started spewing hard white/blue smoke at idle once its been driven for abit. it was fine before the catch can. so not to sure about whether its that or something else such as turbo. but was definately fine until i installed it.

just wondering if the breather filter isnt large enough to let the engine breath and its fukt some of the seals, but yeh any help would be great.

cheers

Could be a coincedence that the seals are on the way out, but if you want peace of mind, remove the catch can and see if its still happening. I doubt the catch can/breather is the cause of it.

sorry been busy all day.. removed catch can and put on stock piping again, and still dong it, so im guessing its turbo seals, the turbo has been running 1bar for aslong as i can remember and it cops a hiding. so would make sense.

its definately plumbed up right, theres two beathers off the rocker covers, one goes to intake pipe on turbo, one goes to PCV vavle on inlet manifold, plugged up intake pipe and pcv vavle, lines run from bother rocker cover breathers to the catch can, which has a filter on it to vent.

when i put the 1.8l turbo motor into my 323 it hadn't been running for near on 2 years

anyway the turbo leaked and there was plenty of smoke for a few days until the seals sorted themselved out, then it stopped completely

/csb

hmm.. this is possible, it was prob off the road for around 2 months at most, but in that time i did start it and take it for about a 3min drive around the block. is there anyway of telling for sure that turbo seals have shat?

sounds like turbo seals mate

same thing happened on my WRX, after driving for a while it would pump out blue/white smoke on idle

replaced the turbo and never saw smoke again
