2006 Liberty cat convertor problem

Hey anyone had any experience with the cats on liberty sedans?
missus has a 2006 liberty 2.0 litre and the check engine light and cruise been flashing. Apparently the cat is breaking up. subaru want like 3 grand to put a new one in. to which I said piss off its not worth that.

talked to the mechanical foreman and he reckons fitting an aftermarket cat might not be good enough to trick the computer and not throw the cat code again. common problem apparently on a few models.

anyone have any ideas?

If it's anything like any other car it should just be a sensor on the cat converter - you should be able to unscrew it and screw it in to a bung welded on to a new cat or, alternatively, you could just cut the entire thing out of the original cat and weld it on to a new cat.

Do you have any photos of the cat by any chance? Not too familiar with dak daks, but it should just be a sensor and nothing overly special.
