Looking at heading down to the hotrod show on the weekend. What would be the best settings? Using a canon 450d with a 18-55is lens and 55-250is lens. Haven't really used the camera much so not to good with setting and lens yet.
Thanks brett
Auto.
Location? Time of day etc etc will all affect the settings

lowest f stop you can get, iso to 400, in av mode, try that for a start, if it blurs try bumping the iso up further, will depend on the lens.
picked up a 50mm f1.4 prime the other week, brilliant for low light shooting with no flash, problem is you gotta stand back to get things in the shot if your hitting cars

You can easily shoot handheld at 100 in the dome without blur.

nothing wrong with auto... if you dont know what settings to use it will at least give you a rough idea what to do.

f22 @ 1/8 sec, IS off, ISO 50.
Or - on a 450D, green square / P and absolutely none of the crap I wrote above.
IMO, I'd concentrate more on composition or you'll get frustrated by settings if you're new to the camera / manual settings. Better off learning more about that when you've got time to spare and aren't at an event.
There's no specific answer to your question that will serve you as well as using auto :)

What a brilliant question!
Reminded me of this:
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FuaDP_tx0_s?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FuaDP_tx0_s?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
How did you compensate for the diminished light?
Ummm,ohhhh, very well :-)
Tinto has the answer - stick to auto son, it would have served you well in the past, no need to change now!
You wont be needing the big lens either, unless you plan on shooting shit from the grandstand :)
