trying to see if the mrs wants another guard dog/companian for our other 2 dogs.
been 2x kelpie cross's does mean it would be pretty hypo dog? and possibly dominant? like trying to round up things.?
also how big do ya recon they will get?

any info would be appreciated.

we got a Staffy X Horse thing. he's still jumpy at like 2 years old. dominant also.. he sleeps on my pillow. and have to drag him off it so i can lay on it.
and a Jack Russel x Bull Mastif whos energetic as. and a great guard dog.
both are great with kids which is good. You put ur hand in their mouth and they wont bite at all. which is also good.

yeh kelpies arent a huge dog but they aint small either. Quite an active breed and the breeds its mixed with?

id def be keen on one im just unsure if my house is suitable for one of these

i have 350 sqm2 and the backyard is pretty small

Take the dog for a big morning walk and it'll just sleep all day anyway. Or get 2 puppies and they'll entertain each other.

LOL i cant afford two puppies, No chance of a morning walk either, afternoon ones would be fine!

but yeh keen if they would be ok in my sized yard

To be honest walking them in the arvo will probably just help knock them out at night, that's what I've found. So you might find some holes dug or whatever if the dog gets bored all day. Can combat this with a decent array of toys and keeping them on an interchange so each week an old toy is taken out and a new one bought in.

*edit* How big is the yard exactly?

yeh i was gooing through the toy thing in my head, well id rather them be knocked out at night haha.

the yards pretty small, from the end of the alfresco area to the back fence is probably 6metres? and is probably 4/5 metres across from house to side fence, im just guessing here atm, but i dont have the sides at the front of the house blocked off, just a fence at the front from the garage to the edge of my property where it meets my neighbours, so that would give em a bit more room, to wander out the back down the side, a small area at the front of the house.

ive got a red cloud x red healer, and it loves to dig holes no matter if i walk him in the morning or not, i could walk him for 3 hours straight and he will sleep for about ten mins and be ready to go again. its just the breed.. they are cattle dogs, full of energy and love chasing things..

they are also fukn smart.. alittle to smart actually, will push the boundaries even when they know the rules. while they are puppies anyways. they love affection and can be sooky. but not usually.

They can lose abit of hair if kept inside..so prob best to keep them outside. will make them toughen up abit too if they are abit sooky..

im seriouslly thinking about getting one of these puppies to keep mine company.

forgot to mention..also great guard dogs, can hear people coming from miles away and will growl and bark if they walk past. just dont baby them, if u want to be a faggot, get a poodle and carry it around in a bag.

The father is a bit of a digger but the mother only dug in the week leading up to birth which from all research means she was "nesting"

Mother and father both have a good solid bark not as yappy as say a normal kelpie

Just asked sister-in-law (vet nurse), she said there's no set time limit but preferably after their first vaccination - she said some people re-home them at 6 weeks etc.

So very keen except I think we're getting my in-laws dog here soon so another is probably a no go. :(

Showed the old man and he wants one or two pending on the mother. Since you're in collie is it possible if someone closer to perth bring back one/two? My parents don't have the time to drive down there and neither do i, but am still really keen. Would be great if someone can help me out here :D If you can/willing to can you please let me know? :)
thanks!

dogs are 4 weeks old this week... considering letting them go at 6 weeks as apparently that is the norm

havent decided which one i want to keep yet either... so really theres only going to be 9 up for grabs

just so everyone knows

2 tan males are long hair (like the father)
the 2 white ones are also long hair and they are both females
