G'day guys,
After a few nights of not being sure if I'm able to drive I've decided to get a portable breathalyzer to clear things up. Does anyone have any experiences with them as in accuracy? If they are any good does anyone have any hookups?
cheers

Depends on what type you have - the cheap ones can be a little out, but tons of the portable ones are as accurate as the cops.

Personally i wouldnt bother, not saying dont have a couple beers then drive but if ur gonna have more than a few dont drive simple as that.
You may chug down a 6 pack blow ur alcho-blow breathalizer and it shows up 0.05 u think "yeh ok feel a lil tipsy but gadjet says i'm sweet" in ur car of u go.
But that alcohol u've previously drunk is still having an effect and you may get pulled over and end up blowing well over 0.05. Just cos u have stopped drinkin doesnt mean ur BAL isnt still going up.

Depending on how much you want to pay,

Is what we use at work for sign on every morning. They did a heap of research before they purchased this one, and it is in directly on par with the wall mounted breatho they have before the gate too.

Its easy you either drink or you drive you cant do both and if you think you can your and idiot and should hand your license in now. Even if you are under the limit it makes a huge difference to how your body reacts to whats happening around you even after 1 drink.
It's this attitude that kills people,

next time you get stopped at an rbt, swipe one out of a cop's hand and pedal to the floor

Cheers guys and 4slide once I get my tax return i'll come down to autopro.

Butcher I do understand what you are saying but i'm not an idiot when it comes to drinking and driving. The breathalyzer is not to "see" how much I can drink and get away with. It's a matter of nights I have spent sleeping in my car and not knowing in the morning if I still should not be driving. Since that it is not always possible to get a taxi or a lift. It also comes down to the vast majority of people that have 2 or 3 pints at the pub before driving home and with this atleast, if any of my mates try it I can convince them not to drive when they blow over.

Make sure you buy one with a proper tube etc. I got this gimmicky one off catchoftheday for $9.99, which has these slots you blow into. Depending on how you blow at it, it can give you a zero, even though you know it should display numbers. I usually try it at least 5 times and see what the highest reading was, and take that. If it's 0.04 or more, I assume I am over as I don't know how accurate it is. Only use it as a rough guide too.

I've asked cops on the street if they could let me use theirs, pingpingpingpings always refuse!! What the fuck, you'd think they would be all for helping people know for sure, helping save lives etc... I don't get it. I even offered to pay for the plastic tube, if costs were an issue. Nope. Grrr!

^^Just make sure you wait at least 20 min from last drink otherwise you get a stupidly high reading.

If you're drinking so much before driving you even *think* you might go over the limit, don't drive. If you really can't get a lift home, ride a bike. Hell, its still not technically legal, but you can ride a bike between footpath bollards, and police cars can't.

Yeah good point, if I had drunk that night I wouldn't drive just talking next morning. How long does it take for alcohol to get out of your system if say you got drunk and then tried to sleep it off?
