advice on upgrade on Rb20

hey all
after a bit of advice on where i should go next..

ive got a Redtop Rb20(yepp i know its old, but burns no oil what so ever and pretty pretty tough)

its running a 25 ceramic turbo at 1 bar
Z32 AFM
Bosche 040
large cooler
full exhuast
Nistune tuned by Hyperdrive
malpassi rising rate fuel reg
makes around 250rwhp

now i wanna get abit more power out of it..

not sure what turbo i should go,
now i dont care about it been laggy not after massive response but i wouldnt mind staying low mount, so wat can i get away with on stock manifold etc?

obviouslly ill need some injectors prob go some GTRs
so where does that leave me power wise ?

any help and advice would be great btw im not going a rb25, so dont bother.

GTR injectors will take up into the high 300 rwhp's

decent sized turbos can be fitted to std lowmount manifold, I have a HKS 2835 on mine good for 400hp

cams only if you chasing high 350+ hp i think

for 300 - 310hp just get a HKS 2530 or similar with 17 - 18psi to pack some punch across as much as the rev range as the little rb20 can give

only other thing that might go wrong is coilpacks

If using the GTR Injectors you will need to use the GTR Resistor as well (Easy Install)
RB20DET Injectors run at 12 ohms GTR Injectors run at 2.5ohms if you dont use the resistor you will fry the ecu

the same money you spend on a new turbo, injectors and a re-tune could be spent on a 25. seen a few people selling motors with loom, ecu and box for around 2.5K

So 25det engine and box go for $2500 ?


25det n box , tailshaft mods , rewire loom , if use S1 or 2 25 you can not Nistune them , only Neo can be and theres a few more $$$ added ontop ..

whats wrong with a series 1 25 with an rb20 ecu running a nistune.. sure you will loose the VCT but who gives a shit.

Plenty of people are using Z32 ecus (retains VCT) to run nistune for an rb25, Nistune themselves will even mod the ecu to suit now.

VCT is one of the many reasons a 25 is better than a 20.. why would you ditch it to be a cheap pingpingpingping?

Pats 32 isnt shy and he's running a 20 ecu, does it really make that much of a difference in power loss? just wind up the boost to make up for it..

I havnt been in a 25 with decent power WITH vct to compare however..

VCT makes a big difference to midrange.

without VCT it will make the same power, it will just be laggier through the middle.
my 25 with a laggy snail makes more power at any given RPM than the original modded rb20 that was in it did.

I've got a Hypergear turbo (not china, made in Melbourne with Garrett parts)

It's plain bearing with wheels the same trim as 3076R 0.63 rear, internally gated and pretty much straight bolt on... I think they are around $1500 delivered so good cheap option (actually pretty good option regardless of cost)

KKR arent bad as far as china goes... under 1k as well

if i run something large, should mean i only need to run lowish boost to still make decent power and max out the injectors?

mine has a KKR on it... apart from the fact its a laggy shitter, its not too bad.

LOL, don't worry, there will be plenty of lag.
my 25 with head work is laggy... same turbo on an RB20 might come on boost by christmas.
