here is a way to store document files in your iPhone “Photos” folder. In addition to displaying pictures, “Photos” will also display files that are in one of the following formats:
-Graphics Interchange Format (*.gif)
-JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)
-Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
-Device Independent Bitmap (*.bmp)
-Tag Image File Format (*.tif)
-Windows Metafile (*.wmf)
-Enhanced Metafile (*.emf)

The steps to pull any of those documents into “Photos” is the same. Basically for any or all of the above items you would have to:
(1)Save the file(s) in an application that supports one of the above formats,
(2)Copy the saved file into your “My Pictures” folder on your PC (I would assume a Mac has a similar folder). I would recommend creating a subfolder labeled “Docs” or something else to have it stand out from your regular picture folders.
(3)Sync the new folder to your iPhone

Hope this helps.

Though from what I can see Iphone does not support animated .GIF
