Going by the Gold Dash fitting on each end id say they arent just rubber hoses ;)
My guess would be the black teflon aviation lins that fit in well with there black and gold theme going on

gold plating or gold ceramic coating?
as gold has a decent density... thus weighing more than regular Stainless/ally

most cars that run in this class with simliar chassis and wheel/tyre set ups dont rely on their brakes to stop. i think you will find it probably has a parachute out back used to pull it up.

best way is to get off throttle, get car straight, pull chute, then once its ok, start braking.
brake + chute at same time = possible flippage n shit... fun times

Gold plating.
Car isn't retired but if they do te same a last time it'll do te show circuit first then race next season with a not so boing setup. Altho they did race it last time with the old blind setup

also, size of front runners on a drag car is pretty skinny, which equals pretty easy lock up.
Rumour is that build cost 1 000 000 dollars.

24ct gold plating over just about everything!
for a shop like QSR, i think it serves there purposes perfectly. It IS over the top, but i think it works. Considering some of their customers cars which i hate, this isnt bad. like someone else said, if it was chrome and not gold plating would people still think the same way?

yeap same one. after they raced it last they took it apart to rebuild and have a longer nose made up for it to the maximum allowable specs.
Love the black paint. last time i heard any rumours about this car they were going to paint it black with the ghost skulls along the bottom like their old r100, and the other bmw. guess somewhere along the line they slightly changed plans

Think the quad rotor which was in an older chassis was around the same sort of times. Not the quickest in the world but not to bad either.
Ghostfc3s - what do you mean by "if it was a real drag car set to run record breaking times it would probably cost 1 million dollars also."
Pretty sure that its been built for multiple purposes. Look good (in their minds), promote their business, win show awards, and to go racing.

whilst obviously not....."JDM".....it's an example of how to do an S15 up in another way/'show car' style - obviously with megabucks, done properly (compared to some, who claim they've spent loads, but the overall finished car looked retarded/riced shit etc)

You have no idea, do you?
How the fuck can those billet rims, with a dish like that be even slightly homosexual?
Do you see the style of the car it is and the concept behind it?
Obviously not...
JME - I tend to agree with you about the 'quality' of the BMW and I am sure that the paint and fit and finish is second to none but I feel that the gold is just tacky and is just way out of place on that type of car.
i find it hard to believe it will ever see the strip again.... gold is heavy, soft and tarnishes easily with heat.
I think the gold plated rotors are a good indication it will never be raced again. My guess is its a retired race car blinged up for automotive shows...
If im wrong, meh.

Calm down dude. In the same way that covering a drag car in 24crt gold plate comes across as homo, machining huge deep drag wheels and then letting a two year old with a mouth full of redskins design the spoke pattern comes across as homo.
Its an opinion thing, there's plenty of wheels that do exactly the same thing that don't look so garish.

I would've thought this would suffer the same fate as that S15 of years past that was gold plated everything - could barely run it up on the dyno for fear of getting heat into the engine bay and damaging the gold plating.. At least that was my recollection of the event.

that s15 is bomb.
beemer, not bad, pref it in this guise. hated the first version with a passion. the gold, not so sure about, but points for a stand out car again from QSR.
has anyone seen pics of his ferrari 360 modena? 22" rears, 20" fronts, twin turbo'd motor, candy apple red duco. screams sex spec.

Gold BMW looks ok imo.
Can't say the same for the green S15 though. Suicide everything, fluro paint and chrome rims just don't cut for me. Car has been built well (bombed engine), but it just looks wrong on a jap car. Chrome should be reserved for old school muscle and SUV's only.

sexspec??
full chassis e46
4 rotor twin turbo engine producing 1600+ hp at engine
air shifted liberty
and its sexspec cause of some tvs in a removable dash?
wow sign me up for sexspec any day then hahaha
seriously tho when it hit the track all the "sexspec" stuff is removed. that was the "show" version. rims were taken off as well as the tv in the tin work between the rear tubs.
Im not a fan of the sexspec shit on it but take that stuff away and your left with one hell of a race car. paint finish on EVERY QSR car is perfect!! the old MR12A rx3 coupe would have to be the best looking rx3 EVER once it went candy red.
oh yeah here is the "sexspec" ferrari
http://carsguide.com.au/images/uploads/myredferrari_w.jpg
but once again, does a twin turbo v8 ferrari = sexspec?? of does that stuff get put aside because of the rims? i think a brandy wine painted car does not equal sexspec
What's with all this sex spec talk at the moment??
So if it's not full on JDM race spec that makes it sex spec? Because that's what it's coming across as.
A full on ground up built 360 is not sex spec, nothing about it is sex spec.
Apparently my car with a built 355 a 42r and transbrake that will almost pop the fronts is sex spec because it has LED lights in the roof lining.
Where's the line??

It all comes down to personal taste but there is nothing sex spec about any of the QSR cars IMO.
These cars are built for massive amounts of bullshit power as well as being immaculate looks wise and like Tones said - when they get out there to race, all the show stuff is removed and these cars get used for what they were built for - single digits!!

How are TV's in the fuckin dash facing out the windscreen not sex spec? Sure the entire car as a whole is built for racing etc but I'm a bit more concerned about where you draw the line for a drag car vs show car...
I guess what I meant by sex spec is completely out of place, inappropriate and useless - which is what I put most sex spec mods down to.
If you're going to build something that costs that much money don't cheapen the appeal and appearance with a few gay fuckin TV's in the dash etc. And yes I'm aware half that shit is pulled off for racing but then what's the point? Show it as it races. Putting in all those TV's as a grab for points and in the process removing a huge portion of appeal for the car. IN MY OPINION.

me personally i wouldnt do that to a ferrari. but thats just me. it stands out in stock form, why spend the money on it which you wont get back, if anythin it will devalue the car. it doesnt appeal to me how he has done it.

I'm not talking about the Ferrari, I know nothing about that.. I'm more talking about the BMW. Yes it's a full tube chassis or whatever but if it already has so many masterpiece modifications then why not focus on them instead of putting things like TV's in the windscreen to suck all the attention away from what is already a fantastic car.

As it is for most but I quite like the theme they've applied with that car and it's one consistent theme throughout. Suicide doors, boot opening like an oldschool rod with the dicky seat in the boot, big billet wheels (not to be mistook for tempe chromes) seats without the headrests etc..
Sure it's not the conventional style rod being an import and all but hey that's doing something proper different and not losing sight of the car's theme along the way. It certainly trumps the BMW drag car with TV's in the dash or so much gold plating that the car is virtually rendered useless.

My bad i thought the bling one was the quad rotor. Which was when it first came out it wasnt allowed to race with the likes of the Pac cars or GAS cars as the Quad rotor was never a production motor.( Andra rule i think) I did find out today that it can compete in the Extreme class or Pro turbo some thing like that, so who knows maybe it might win an event then.
Tones
29-07-2010, 08:05 PM
I think u will find it was because in profx the body of the car had to match the engine. I could be wrong in this matter tho. That rule has since changed as to allow the gas motorsports 2jz BMW to compete.
Th car is free to race in Andra super compact group 2 class. As body to engine rule doesn't matter.
ho57ile
29-07-2010, 08:22 PM
Well the pac ran the mx6 and that never had a 20b in it? Or was it just car/engine manufacturer had to match?
Tones
29-07-2010, 09:30 PM
Yeah it was just body shape and engine maker. Like the doorslammers pretty much. Altho that rule has since been relaxed hence the 2j BMW running. This is only for the group 1 ProFX class by the way. Group 2's supercompact is anything goes format as well as the sport compact group who run the jamboree event.
