G'day
So today i purchased yet another RS, This time a wagon.
I want to take the motor running gear and all the tricked up parts and put them into a gx sedan.
Its an easy job for me to do at home but im wondering how i will go registering it with the ej20 as apposed to the N/A22.
So i have been told 3 things..
1) Just change the vehicle engine number and hand the forms in.
2) The car must go over the pits and any issues they give me must be rectified and engineered.
3) I can get the work done at a shop and they can give you the compliance plate to say they are qualified to do the engine change and it suits specifications needed for the vehicle..

So im wondering how much truth is behind these 3 facts and if i must go over the pits and get engineered, How much am i looking at for engineers approval and if the car isnt approved will it get stickered or will they take the plates or will they give me a period to rectify issues and bring it back?

All advice would be much appreciated Regards Chris.

i went over the pits recently..i was told that because my engine number had been changed to suit the Rb20det in there i only had to fill out a change of engine number form as it has another Rb20det in it, but if it didnt im pretty sure i would have had to engineer it.
laws changed awhile back i think and now they go by power to weight(correct me if im wrong) which means brake upgrades and that. but hey i could be wrong.

1) this is the easiest but not fully legit way
2) this is most accurate. You should fill out an approval to modify form, submit to DPI and they send it back with any requirements. Afterwards you go to pits and they certify work is done to their standards and then change number etc
