hey, anyone know the price to get a box reconditioned/rebuilt or can make any recommendations of a good reliable business to do it.. also how long will it take and will they refit the box for me or just rebuild it for me to fit? basically i want to drop the car off with a unknown history and have the box looked at and any issues fixed.. pick it up and pay cash.. and idea how long the average wait is the box suits an Ej20 also if thats any help cheers guys!

All they can do is take the inspection covers off and check what they can see (quite limited). Other than any obvious crunching into gears or other abnormal sounds they really won't be able to give you a definite answer. For example, when I got a straight cut box for my wrx I was selling the standard one to help fund it. The buyer even drove the car as it was and all was good, price, date time all reached. The guys that did the box swap then told us when we went to pick it up that there was a few teeth (must have been spares!!) and some lovely metal shavings all through the oil -> box was on way out big time. To truly know they'll need to split the casing and have a look.
Recommend Doug as STechnik in Maddington for a start, he rebuilt my straight cut box after I snapped a tooth off the mainshaft :hammer: He also fixes just about everyone elses gearboxes from Perth WRX. Very highly recommended as he can even go over the whole car for you as he knows them inside out he'll be able to tell you if anything is wrong.
