Thought I'd make a thread about various instances on how people deal with road rage, or even stories about things that have happened?

How do you deal with assholes on the road? Tailgaters? People who cut you off? etc etc.

Ever been in a bad situation?

How did you resolve it?

I've been in shitloads of situations - usually if I'm being tailgated and I'm doing nothing wrong, I'll just take my feet off the pedals and let the car coast under it's own power - if it slows down, oh well... if I get flashed with high beam, I'll start to brake a little, doesn't bother me if I come to a nice and easy stop :)

Bit of a CSB...

On the way home this evening, had some young whipper-snapper and his mate sitting up my ass on Brearley Ave (the road to the domestic airport) - was in the right lane as I was turning into a side street.

Said bastard proceeds to sit up my ass, and pulls into the slip lane with me - didn't think aaanything of this guy up until this point, didn't care. Anyhow, there was a maaaasive queue of cars building up down the street, all stuck behind a bus at the stop sign (about 15-20 cars), so I let the bus out and a couple of cars.

Kid behind me sits on the horn, going off his trumpet, so I didn't react other than I decided "bugger it, I'm in no rush, I'll let a few more out for his efforts", considering I was going to go after letting these few thru. After this he obviously blew his top, and decided to show off to his mate - gets out of his car, yelling obsceneties and just being a general fuckwit.

I didn't care in the least really up until he decided to punch my car. I got out, said in a rather inpolite manner "what's your problem, can't wait an extra minute?", to which he took a swing. Managed to dodge it, and connected my fist with his jaw, and dropping him to the ground like a bag of potting mix.

He looks up, scampers back to his car, and goes completely silent.

Best part of it all - by this time, ALL that traffic build-up had made it thru the intersection, and the older guy behind this kid was grinning :D

Only downside is that my hand still hurts :(

Whilst I totally agree, there are some times when you aren't able to pull to another lane (ie: one lane road) and when you're doing the speed limit, yet there are morons that still tailgate.

That's fair, however you're not responsible for maintaining the distance between you and any following traffic.
Whilst I agree it's annoying to have someone up your arse when you're quite clearly on the speed limit, it's a lot safer for all involved to simply ignore them. The only reason I can assume someone would tailgate on a single carriageway is if they wanted to encourage you to increase your current speed. If they were intending on overtaking, it would be easier to leave a larger gap to allow more run-up (granted I drive a whale and may not be the case for everyone).

Can't stand tailgaters theres no need for it especially when your doing nothing wrong. I was witness to my tradie getting punched by some guy at a set of traffic lights (i hated my tradie then so i didnt do anything to help him) but still getting out of your car and wanting to punch on with someone over an extra 10-20 seconds waiting is pretty pathetic.

Have had a dude yelling at me to pull over before, shouting to be a man and get out. He was pretty keen for punch ons. Followed me home and parked across from my mates driveway. Then when i got out of the car i was driving (mates satria), the dude stayed in his car. Fucking faggot.

I get road rage when pingpingpingpings don't know how to merge, how to pass through traffic lights, how to change lanes (especially when fools switch 4 lanes at once on the freeway) and when people do not know how to sit at traffic lights (had one muppet in the right turning lane but she stopped a couple extra meters short off of the weight balance - 2 light changes later still doesn't know what she did wrong).

Other than that, seen some ridiculously stupid shit on the road by drivers (one idiot driving 60km/hr in the right hand lane on freeway playing with a mobile phone, another, driving down main str, playing on a mobile phone and mounting a kerb almost hitting over a couple green bins).

Either way - no point getting angry over it - shit won't change.

Had an instance when I was a courier, I accidentally cut some dude in a falcon off, I waved it off. Got to the lights, he got next to me, walked up to my van, started abusing me. Told me to get out of the van, so I obliged him.

Never seen some pingpingpingpings jaw drop so far in my life. He hurried back to his car and locked the door.

Anyway if you're getting tailgated you're either in the right lane blocking it up or the idiot is riding you while being in the left and doesnt know the rules of keeping left.

I never get tailgated if I do I try make as much room as possible for him/her to get past.

Nothing makes me rage more then people driving in the left lane under the limit side by side to another guy going below the limit just that simple fuck up can result and huge traffic and it happens everyday.

Ive see people at 1am at night on a empty road no one is infront and im like 200m's behind just casually decides to go in the right lane im guessing he/she got bored being in 1 lane. Didnt turn with in 10km lol.

And when I'm semi tail gating sometimes trying to get someone to move out of the right lane on the freeway doing 95 I gave up after 2mins I pass him quickly then he moves 2 lanes to the left and starts racing me.

Few months back I was driving back up the freeway from Mandurah, nicely cruising at 100km/h in RHL when a young P-plater in an undie blue coloured Corolla hatch hits the gas hard as he's merging onto the freeway.
He managed to get in front of me on the left lane and then jumps into my lane. I was a little annoyed at that stage because he wouldnt have lost much by making that manoeuvre after I passed him. I was sitting maybe 20m behind him.
We approached a car on the left lane travelling well well under the limit, and the little pingping slows down to the speed of that car and starts blocking me. Im about 10m behind him now, and blood is slowly starting to boil. I flicked my high beams at him, nothing. I flicked the high beams with the two spotties, i see a reaction as he looks in the mirror - but continues to keep that speed of the car beside him. Now im getting angry.
I beeped, once - twice - nothing... and not only that but the car on the left sees whats happening and starts slowing down to let one car through - the fkn pingping slows down too!

Blood is boiling! i was furious! sat on his ass about 5m away with high beams, spotties and horn - shouting all sorts of profanities. Little shit keeps his cool while im loosing mine... eventually I thought fuk ya and backed right off... got about 200-300m behind him... he gave up, sped up and changed lanes.

I eventually overtook the little shit without making much of a fuss but I should have followed him around for a bit. That would have been fun!

Ever since I've been driving, I seem to have done pretty well avoiding any road rage. Closest I've come was leaving the gym one day, coming up to a speed hump out of there & the traffic lights are going red. There wasn't really anyone behind me coming up to it, but as I was on the other side I see there's a car right behind me. Dude goes off at me, I laugh at him, he goes off at me laughing, I realise he's just trying to impress his 2 kids in the back & I ignore him while making sure he wasn't going to do anything.

Had 2 "really bad" tailgaters, one I dropped gears next too as he tried to go past me after I'd slowed down. He took it ok (prob enjoyed the sound), but considering I was already above the limit there wasn't any reason to be doing what he was. Second was on Scarbrough Beach Rd late at night. Doing 60, another 4wd right up my ass. Instead of using the right lane when I slowed down, they stayed right behind me, even when I got to about 20. Got quickly back up to 60 but guess they got the point because then they left some room.

But if I get anyone soon keen to punch on, I probably would!!

This is the worst possible thing. This gets me really angry. you go to overtake someone and they put their foot down trying to race you. Like WTF seriously can't you overtake people without it being a race now?

had an incident on mundaring weir rd last weekend on the bike. was being held up thru the twisty bit by a kia carnival so went to overtake probably not the best spot misjudged my speed and only just made the pass. was clear of the kia but he took offence to this. i took of thru the twists then when i hit the straight part slowed down to speed limit cos its where the cops like to hide. cruising along look in mirror the kia is now right on my rear wheel not wanting to speed i just kept going he then overtakes me and cuts back in missing my front wheel by about a meter at most, of course i give him the universal " wanker" sign he spends the next 5min just continually tapping the brakes each time i get close.
eventually i have had enough of this so go to overtake him again when he sees my indicator come on he starts to speed up and as i come along side him he moves over the white line into my lane trying to knock me off, i took a swing at his mirror, flipped the bird and shot off before he knocked me off the bike.
i may of made a stupid overtaking move but my actions only endangered myself he had his missus and 4 kids all looked under 8years old in the car with him and he looke dlike a bible saleman

I posted this up in the spotted thread when it happened... on Roe near the GEH lights I'm in the right lane approaching the turn right and overtaking the slower cars spread out in left lane. some shutter buzzbox with 4 student looking types passes me on the left (i'm sitting on 105 on the dial/100 real speed), slowly drifts in front with about 3-4m clearance, then takes foot off accelerator and slows down. I'm like wtf...that was intentional, I can see him grinning in his rear view. I am pissed and pass on the left then get in the right lane again in front of him.

He repeats the earlier manoeuvre but leaves only about 1-2m from my front bumper. I am seriously bugging out now and drop second and overtake not realising im already going 100, revs to 110 or so and i have to change again, poor car...complete the change and now we're up to the 60 zone and I move to the turning lane. I'm fuming so bad I actually began seeing red, couldn't think straight. In my mirror I see he's pissing himself.

He turned off soon after but fuck me I was angry, not able to concentrate fully on driving. Thought I shoulda grabbed the $39 coles special maglite and gone to work on the car/his head while we were at the red but I probably woulda been in the shit then. Not the type to get violent anyway.

I hate the fact that i can't go for a drive without getting road rage, everytime i drive i end up punching something in the car or just loosing my nut and yelling some drivers deserve to be pushed off the road for the way they act.

My long story short.
Had a P Plater come flying down Wanneroo rd when I just pulled out, he tried to merge without looking and almost side swiped my car while trying to get infront of another car then raging at me, so I sped up and sat at the same speed as the car next to me while he was behind. Lucky my friend was driving infront of us cause we had to take 2 cars to pick up his. Friend slowed down on the right, I went left lane and we both sat on the speed limit while this kid was trying to speed, each time one of us sped up a little the kid would change lanes into ours then we'd slow down again.
We had to turn off at Beach Rd but we decided to do it all the way to Gnagara Rd.
Hate drivers who can't merge then abuse you cause your in the way, WTF are am I meant to get out of the way for them? fuck them

I had an incident on freeway south entering from Roe Hwy where the 2 left lanes merge. Pushy motherfucker in a ute kept up his speed up as we were running out of road. I had the front quarter of my car ahead of his the whole time and it was my turn in the zipper formation or whatever. I kept glancing at him for a response but the fucker was staring at me with crazy eyes. I could see he had no intention to slow down so i locked it up off into the emergency lane.

Blood boiling, I caught up & jumped into the next lane and served up some hot angry abuse. Well he had some abuse he must have prepared earlier because he was already bright red & half hanging out of the car swerving all over the lane screaming at me like i'd just renovated his missus

Fool must have forgotten he was driving his work ute with company name plastered all over it so I rang them the next day with his number plate and a description stating my concern of the company's road safety image etc

Dont know for sure if anything really happened but the supposed boss rang back next day saying the driver was located and faced disciplinary action

Maybe they're new to Perth and don't know the ins and outs of freeway traffic flow. Maybe they didn't know.

Peak hour traffic has no excuse, though. 1.5 million pingpingpingpings that don't realise that if you merge slowly and properly then it saves everyone behind you about 10mins of sitting doing nothing and also can't indicate to save their life.

Heading down GEH on Boxing Day last year some nutter in a Magna was all over me in the left lane. Smashed down a gear, got into the right lane and as I did he followed me. I got back into the left and he came up next to me carrying on, swerving toward me. There was eventually a gap in front of me just before Tonkin so he got in front of me and slammed on the brakes forcing me to do the same.

He speeds off down Tonkin, I dropped a lip and chased him. Doing about 150km+ a Police car comes speeding up beside me with the lights on. I was fucking furious, put my window down and started yelling and pointing to the pingpingpingping in front of me. Copper put his window down, and I yelled at him as loud as I could that the bloke tried running me off the road. Copper yelled out he would pull him over and I was to pull in behind him.

I back off, Police car roars off and gets in behind him. I pull in behind the Police car and the guy gets out and starts taking a swing at them. Coppers eventually come over and tell me they'll do him for assault and I was good to go.

A few years ago I was driving down Crimea (sp?) in Morley towards Malaga. Dickhead in a commodore was behind me tailgating me while I was in the left lane going the speed limit and there was no one in the right hand lane. He refused to simply overtake and just kept riding my ass. I sped up, he sped up.

The big double lane roundabout was coming up where Crimea turns left into Malaga Dr. I knew there was a Multinova coming up a few hundred meters after the corner as I passed it heading into Morley a few hours ago. So as soon as I turned the corner, I nailed it and he followed suit. Got up to around 120kph making a gap between him and me of around 20-25m, and then slammed on the brakes dropping back to the speed limit of 60. That forced him to go around me with him going full speed and full throttle.

He was probably going 150kph easy as he passed the camera and got flashed. I pulled up behind him at the lights at the intersection of Malaga Dr and Reid hwy beeping my horn musically and laughing loudly out the window.

This Trev in a yellow Monaro pulls up and tries to have runs with a few of us, perth pulsar club so most didnt bother, lol, one of our guys with a 'det have him a decent run, backed off and slowed back to the limit and then the guy in the Monaro flipped out and pulled infront of our guy and smashed on the brakes and forced him to come to a stop.
The 4 or 5 other cars on the cruise also stopped and before we knew it the guy in the Monaro ran over and started punching our dude through the window, as he tried to get out of the car so he could defend himself the Trev was slamming the door on him and shit. We all ran over and dragged the guy off. He jumped back in his Monaro and flew off.

We had 5+ witnesses so we reported it to the cops, myself and a few others went in a few weeks later and made a statement to what we saw and the guy was charged with assault.

The guy didnt get too hurt, just a few bruises but we were very glad that the Trev payed for what he did. Fucken road raged pingpingpings
