Just seeing what clutch ppl r currently using, & how it suits their particular set-up. It's been stongly advised I use a twin plate, but will this be most suitable for daily driving & strip use?

IMO twin plates are easier to drive than puck clutches. I was driving around a 440rwhp Cefiro around town for quite some time with an OS Gieken twin plate, and that was relatively easy to use for driving around town etc, and still held the HP when it needed to.

they are indeed but you dont need as much clamping force when your running two driven plates
Id go a sprung twin

I normally run 5 puck brass button sprung centre clutches with 3200lb clamping pressure.
These have worked extremely well on my previous cars (SR20DET Bluebird 250rwHP, and RB30ET Skyline 340rwHP) they have great bite with little or no shudder.
The 4 puck Brass button solid centre clutch in my FJ20ET Bluebird was a pig...not something you'd want as a daily.
Not sure how they'd go in a GTR, but should be OK, cost around $480 ;)

Go the exceddy twin plate, they are awsome on the street, hook up well at the plex, and are easily available.
speak to the dudes at hyperdrive, they fitted one to my gtr when ken owned it, and its been great.

For a GTR I wouldnt go anything else but a twin plate.
However for other cars, there are some other choices. On the past two cars I had I used the Xtreme 9 puck Cushioned button plate clutch. Those clutches have taken so much abuse, I find it hard to beleieve possible. My mate who owns my 180 has punished that car so hard and the clutch has NEVER slipped. Its too agressive tho, combined with a 2800 lb pressure plate, it has eaten 5 gearboxes and smashed a diff - people and mechs were shocked to see a smashed S13 diff. However it is still biting hard, at dragcombat last week he was getting 1.8 second FLAT 60" ft times on cheap street tyres, which is what Ive seen stock GTRs get. Even the skyline had the xtreme clutch which copped a hiding, no slip ever.

go the twin plate! in my gtr ive got a os giken & its my daily driver no probs at all, you just have to get used to them. spend the $$$ do it once & do it right, over the past few years (with other cars not gtr) ive spent too much $$ going for a single plate clutch & replacing them all the time + you will find that not to many single plate set-ups will have a billet pressure plate which cost $$$ aswell.
Go the twin plate they're antiburst & reliable.
I'm running stock clutch..
Multiple 12 second passes, 1.7 second 60 footers, and its still going strong...as well as preserving my gearbox :)

Have an exedy 3puck sprung centre, is ok to drive around with but a pingpingpingping to get of the line in a decent amount of time (with a laggy rb20). Time for a twin plate

i have a x-treme 9 puck, grips well enough to never slip and not harsh enough to break my box yet *fingers crossed*
a 9 puck wouldnt be too bad in a gtr, my mate has one and its holding up but i would go a 5 puck just to be sure it didnt fail

Any gtr going for 400hp or more needs a twin plate.

9 puck was ok with the rb20, but i dodnt suspect it would have had a very long life
twin plate for life
costly, but it is so worth it, then thing will never slip, right until its worn

Extreme 9 puck cushioned button with extra h/duty pressure plate $950 supplied and fitted.
Will hold 400rwhp in a GTR but won't last forever.
Exedy twin plate sprung centre $2700 fitted.Supposed to be good for about 600nm of torque( they don't give hp figures )
If it's pull type , add extra.
Do the sums and work out what you can afford

400rwhp 9 puck ?? ryans gtr is already slipping and it has about 330rwhp and i think alems brand new one slips on hard laucnhes and thats under 400rwhp also.

mickos 9puck holds at 400hp+ but we all know how micko drives ... a bit soft
But he does let danny drive it, and if it can hold dannys punishment it will be alright.
go the twin plate.

Yes Simon, 9 puck will hold 400hp.
Ya gotta get it engaged first, ie don't try and slip it to get it going.
Flywheel machining and bedding it in first have a lot to do with it as well.

Soz GUN-R32, dont mean too hijack your thread.
was jus wonderin, since mines about to shit itself, what sort of clutch should i look at for a N/A 87 Silycar? obviously doesn't need anything hardcore, but i would warmly welcome some sort of plate that doesn't slip, last 6months of abuse before i sell it and something that aint gonna cost big bucks.
cheers for any feedback

no offence ken, u know i love u *hugs* but i was the one who caused ryans clutch slip. dropped 1st at drags, fine slapped 2nd, 3rd and 3th hard and it slipped in all gears, did exactly the same the 2nd run i had in it. and i definatly wasnt riding it.
saying that the flywheel wasnt machined but the clutch was bedded in well.
id just go a twin plate for sure just to be safe now i have seen it fail

also ryan is weak, he could have 2 cups of coffee and a root between gear changes which may have been why it didnt slip before it did

you cant expect a cerami bronze disc to grab on a non machined uneven fly.... you machine the fly you clown theres no way this would bed in

As I said further above men...
Do the sums on what you can afford. If you haven't the $2700 fold but want a good clutch, go the 9 puck.
I said it would hold 400hp and it will , IF you get off the clutch before burying it.The bedding in is also relevant as did everyone follow the procedure supplied, ie drive it like a granny for 500km to let it bed in.
These are the same clutches Autoclutch sell ( except we supply a new pressure plate) and between us probably sold about 500 of em.
They are a good low cost option for those who cant afford twin plates.

Sorry Simon, can't remember.Alzhiemers, too many beers, age and time are all my enemy. :)
Triple plate carbon/metal ATS. Costly but can be slipped and launched hard even cold. 1400hp rated warm, 700hp rated cold...............works a treat and very driveable considering its application. I'd say a twin plate would be the way to go.....go carbon if you can afford it, pedal feel greatly improved.
I used the 9puc 'cushionded' xtreme clutch previously....works great for a single with a liveable pedal feel for a daily..........but would only get 12months from it!
