View Full Version : What's a B03B diff worth?

I have to separate the rest of my wreck - I know rough prices for the rest of my bits and pieces but been trying to find a value for my B03B diff but either I am blind as a bat, or as useless as batshit cos I can't find any concrete pricing.
I have the whole axle, someone is interested in the drive shafts, leaving me with a "pumpkin"?
I am going by whole axle at $1500?
So $1000/$1100 for the pumpkin? Does this sound about right? What is the "centre"? The pieces inside the pumpkin? Easy to separate the drive shafts off?
Never had to sell anything like this - hence asking to see if anyone else has sold one at all. Nor have I ever stripped a car this extensively.
Cheers,
Paul
"Pumpkin" is the diff centre, crown wheel and pinion, assembled in the housing.. with no shafts on it at all.

they are a torsen centre Joe no shims or plates or anything like a normal lsd would have. they have helical cut gears that sort of bind up if you like with the more force (power) you give them the tighter they get. They are pretty much like a locker but nice and drivable too. Thats about the best knowledge i have on them anyway.
Yeah same as late model STi front diffs (Torsen).
Toyota stuff just costs a shitload by the looks of it, even 2nd hand.. I can get a late model STi "pumpkin" with a factory fitted 2-way plated centre in it for less than that.

Yeah Toyota shit is expensive my old man paid $750 ( i think it was) for a torsen for his aristo (centre only). Thats a fairly cheap price too.

Cheers guys, appreciate the help. :)
The only thing I know about my diff - is that it is VERY sought after.
A03B is worthless compared to a B03B from what I have searched for - just prices meant fuck all to me cos I didn't know what was what. :( Cleared this up well. :)
same as the getrag gearbox. they are expensive coz they rarely break. dont have to replace them every six months like the GTR/dak dak running gear :)
1k for a complete diff is about right. sometimes they go for a little less. Shafts are expensive aswell especially the short one as they are the hardest ones to find.

I am compiling a 6 speed conversion kit. :)
The whole axle I am hoping to put up for around the $1300 to $1500 mark.
Shafts - due to the diff?

Last time I checked, dak dak R180 diffs and 6 speed boxes don't break very often either!

Did Toyota do the development for them? :p
Nah they derived their R&D from Group N Rally and WRC

i think you'll find the percentage of nissan boxes that break is actually quite low too, given there is about 7.2 billion skylines in australia.

"A" torsens are a lot more common because they came in Supras, Aristo's and Soarers - nevertheless you can still get close to a grand for one of these
"B" torsens only came in manual TT Supras, hence being rarer. They are also physically larger and are not a straight swap - they really are only useful to manual TT owners or someone doing a getrag 6-speed swap as the ratio is no good for other transmissions

The person coming by on Saturday to have a look is doing an Aero-Top conversion (2JZ-GTE, 6 Spd GetRag) and needs my Diff.
Saying that, the Series II Supra as far as I know, only came with the A03B diff?
Or does the Genuine RZ Series II come with a B03B anyway? I checked on the forums and the chart comparison between models and from what I have ascertained the Series II is only A03B, the Series I had the B03B and is sought after?

yes with the late model TT manuals they went back to an "A" diff, but still with the unique 6-speed ratio - this is the rarest diff of all
The diff you have is still reasonably rare but again only of use to someone with a Getrag box
Do you still have teh front and rear subframes of your Supra?

Any benefit sticking a B03B into a late model TT? Or just leave the A03B? Cos I will be looking for a late model TT when the time comes - and want the best package lol

No not really - the "A" series are strong enough, plus with the late model it'll be a Torsen II

I was referring more specifically to GTR boxes :)
yes the axles are different because of the size of the diff. one side is shorter one side is the same as those with the A series diff. The axles are also alot thicker.
