View Full Version : What have you had knocked off at work?

Mistikal

Other than the usual pens/post-it notes/stapler/etc, have you had your own personal stuff pinched from your desk, or the car or wherever you happen to work? Be it from fellow workers, or even the general public...

Came into the office today to find that someone felt they needed my cutlery more than I did... more of an annoyance really.

When I worked at the hospital, a lot of stuff got pinched... People must have had some mighty fine first-aid kits at home... Oh no, i've fallen over and skinned my knee... Better give myself a Midazolam injection and start stitching...

CSB:

One of the people here is blind, has around 8-10% vision. Because of this, he has a massive magnifier - like the old Microfiche Machines in Libraries - that he needs to read any paper-basd text... he had someone knock off his original machine, never turned up, and our office had to pay for a replacement. The new machine is chained to the desk, and even that has been tampered with!

Oh the drugs of addiction were always locked up, but say if 3 viles were set aside for a procedure, and only 2 were used, the third rarely went back in the cupboard.

yep, you can never stop it 100%

but get this, last year in one of the hospitals they brought in this "diazepam is now a drug of addiction" and so it all had to be recorded, the amount issued to the emergency department plummeted 95% in the first month.

so it has cut out a lot of the dodgy behaviour, and it makes it a hell of a lot easier to catch people.

Haha, three years ago we couldn't account for about 300,000 litres of diesel over 12 months. As it turned out, half of Collie was driving onto site and helping themselves to free diesel. There was no security there, just rock up, and start pumping haha.

Speaking of diesel, mate works for Optus. They have various remote comms shit around the country area that runs on diesel generator. Gets refueled once a month or so. He has access to all of them, so once he drove across all of Aus and back on free diesel haha. Optus has no proper asset register, so an employee can just rock up and take a router or whatever, they wouldn't even notice. He's been selling Optus shit on eBay for three years now

also had a customer leave their sierra on the lawn at work after 5pm for the next day without telling us (silly being in midland)

one of the guys drove past the shop that night around 8pm and saw a sierra on the lawn and the fibreglass canopy had been taken off it and windscreen frame was gone... Had to call the customer and ask what was on it when he dropped it off.. within 3 hours those parts got stripped lol

When I was workin at Nissan I would buy two 500ml cokes at lunchtime and chuck one in the fridge for later. One day they started to go missing and eventually every day it would disappear and I could never catch the kunt stealing it. Anyway, one day I took a mouthfull and topped it back up with my own urine then placed it back in the fridge. Sure enough it went missing like the others. I then informed a few people what I had done and it spread around the whole dealership. I didnt find out who it was in the end but they would have known they drank my piss which made me feel a bit better.

Had my hammer, nips, few other things go missing, but the thing that really pisses you off, is when people steal your safety glasses. For fuck sake, they give them out for free, go get your own.

Mate of mine at previous workplace had his lunch stolen continuously (always sandwiches). He decided it was about time to make 2 sandwiches out of bread and cat food and see what happened.

Culprit came out and was so happy with the food, he fessed up to my mate and said it was delicious. Then he found out it was cat food...

Laxatives work too.

I usually find my cutlery missing and me trying to find it. And on some sites up north - if your name is not on your lunch bag - it may go missing. ;) Even that sometimes doesn't help though. :(

Where I work, people constantly try to steal diesel out of the tanks of machines. Had the coffee machine and oven knocked off one weekend. A bobcat stolen and never recovered. About 3 years ago they took 2x Caterpillar 980G's, D11N bulldozer, D400E adt and 345 excavator for joyrides causing about $100,000 in damages.

Last long weekend in one of our south quarries a Caterpillar 988F was stolen, driven straight through the gates on the compound. Was found roughly 5km's down the road set on fire.

Yeh, thats the one...!

At the time, I hired him privately and he had his own practise, wasnt working for the government then, but may be now...

Apparently, he has been 90 odd percent blind since he was about 12 years old. Managed to get through Law degree and has been practising for 10+ years with barely any vision. Absolutely awesome achievement!

He ended up getting me off aswell - tore the cops in my case to shreds.

Funny thing is, bumped into him at a pub in the city a while back, had a chat with him and mentioned a few things about my case a couple years back and he remembered it all as clear as day!

He chats a bit, but he is a good bloke actually...
