About to take one of my cars over the pits, have a few concerns however.

Is an 89 model, import.

Has a compliance VIN stamped onto the right side strut tower.
Does not have compliance plate (no signs of one ever being fitted, no holes drilled, or any shit like that)

Has door intrusion bars welded in. (this may be a standard feature on A31s as these appear to be identical to my other A31, which was never complied, see further below)

Has baby seat restraints fitted onto rear parcel shelf...only the centre one is fitted, the restraints behind the left and right seat arent with the car, the holes are drilled with a thread clearly visible. (not a standard feature on early model A31s)

Does not have third brake light, and again, there is no sign anywhere on the car, no brackets, or holes drilled, no wires pliced open anywhere on any brake light wires. Vehicle did not have a spoiler from factory either.

Car HAS been registered before in SA.

Is it likely the car was complied but registered as an 88 model? My other Cefiro has all the same signs of compliance, bar the lengthened VIN number stamp, but being an 88 model, was never 100% complied.

According to NissanFAST, the it was built in Jan/1988.
If I do need a compliance plate and paperwork, what are my options from here ?

Anybody ?

I'm guessing it was mistakenly registered as an 88 model...since there is no production date anywhere on the car.
Has anybody registered any import as a second> owner? or registered an import with no paperwork other than proof of ownership ?

Desperately need to register this ASAP.

Cheers bud. Will be doing that.

I sent a detailed email to both DPI (WA) and the email addy on the Imported Vehicles page (nation wide), no response from the later, the first responded as usual without even reading my email....same generic bullshit response just telling me where to go and what to do to register a vehicle....lovely service right there.

Cant speak for much other then that^^

My 1988 (build date 11/87) Honda CRX had to go over it also didnt have a 3rd brake light from factory, they didnt even question it at the pits. I was expecting them to turn around and ask me to retrofit one in and come back...if there are visable spoiler holes, they may question it - best taking stock spoiler with you if you have one.

As for compliance plate, may be in similar boat. An MR2 i purchased recently from auctions has no compliance plate in sight.

My car is an 89.. vin on a punched alloy strip with no compliance plate either. Bought unregistered but previously licenced here in WA.

Was made to fit a third brake light before they would pass me, narva pos thrown in.

Only issue I can see is if the rego data can't be accessed from SA..

Well pre-89 scheme allows any vehicle in without compliance, post 01/89 is where SEVS kicks in and compliance is needed, things like third brake light.
Personal imports can be bought in without compliance I believe...but since I have a VIN, obviously not.

I'm going to hopefully cannonball over the pits on Monday, I'll let you guys know how I go.

Cheers guys.

did any other papers come with the car when it came over from SA?

All i got with the car was an expired security license, some banks cards and some other shit belonging to one Mohamed _____ and about 10'000 hair dressers' business cards..

Passed.

I asked the bloke there today about why it would have a VIN but no compliance plate or shit like third brake light, "it was probably registered yonks ago"...so there must've been a different scheme once upon a time? Dunno.

It passed. I'm happy.
