So what did everyone think?
My thoughts...
I had an excellent time, I thought it was well worth the money, and the cars there were phenominal. Only thing that sucked was the weather, in which stopping racing a few times for a while.
QSR BMW = Unbelievable, that thing is a work of art. It had THE biggest turbo I've ever seen in my life, I could have stuck my head in there and gotten myself a haircut. Best pass I seen this thing do was 7.50 @ 178mph, pretty impressive guys!
Pac Mx6... what is there to say, this thing is inbelievable every time I hear/see about it, and it was good to finally see it in person.
Kier Wilson... Identical clean silver R32 GTR's, both immaculate. Was dissappointed on that the raffle was cancelled with him! His cars were awesome to see, although they didn't put down the times they were supposed to! (I don't think)
EXPLICIT... this car just amazes me every time I see it, I think it has a LOT more in it than an 11.20. Although that seems to be the fastest WRX in WA.
On All 4z... What do I say? Launching hard, hitting the brakes hard at the end and rolling through for low 11's. Crazy!
ND4SPD.. :D What is there to say about 799.9rwhp and seeing the car back running with HKS 2.8L, twin t04z's, ppg dogbox and a massive fuel setup in the boot. It will be good to see this thing running properley and all ready for Salon. :)
BLOWN3ROTOR... can this thing get any louder? Best pass I seen this thing do was a 9.07 first run in the day. Nice work!
RUSH drag motorbike, you gotta be nuts and have some mental issues to wanna ride this thing. I seen it do 7.74 after getting off the gas at the end of the track. Unreal!
Booger's R32 GTR.. well done mate, first run 12.06, then breaking out of a dialled in 11.95 with and 11.86 after hitting the brakes, shoulda kept into it! :P Good to see ya doin good times after barely even driving the car.
Banger's burnouts in the yellow ceff. :D
Cerbera... finally breaking a 12! :P
Well done to all the Antilag guys who entered, who got PB's?
Commentators on the day, lol... ?? "I think the RB25 is a 6 cylinder and the RB26 is a 4 cylinder." "I think the reason for these ONEVIA cars are a lot of drift cars get smashed up and it's impossible to find Silvia parts."  Get a clue, guys.
All in all a great day, pics up soon.
Lenny.

Drag Combat was awsome :)
I had abit of fun at the beginning pulling in to get my car check to find it had blown the water line from engine to turbo, out of the blue , took 4hrs or so but we got it off and replace it with a new one :D then got the car check out just before it closed (thanks pauly :D)
Racing was ok, onyl got 3 runs :( but had heaps of fun, and did some alright burnouts :D couldnt make any good time, car just spun off the line :( race a 11second 180sx (hyperdriev) in my last Sport RWD race i had 3second headstart but the car went noo where off the line :D so that was the end for me :D
What can i say an awsome event, enjoy giving the flame show in the pits area my car loves limiter action :p

Commentator :asshole: (well at least he tryed)
cars i likes on the day, well all of them but the 10 sec bluebird and that 11 sec twin turbo FWD magna (big improvment from the 14s it was doing last time i saw it) also the M3 had some power and they caught my eye the most.
really good day and a good showing of all types of imports and car clubs.

24-04-2005, 05:11 PM
Yeh, that turbo magna managed an 11.99, pretty impressive!
Brendan looks pretty much the same, different wheels on it, but I think it was all rush rush tempory slap together to get it running. Ant said it was a big rush, he and the team didn't sleep the night before, trying to get it running. He also said nothing was setup right, and it needs a lot of fine touching, so once it's all done it should be good to see. Pics will be up soon.
Track also seemed a bit slippery, even though they had the methane burners on it after it rained to warm it up and dry it out, still seemed a few cars had a bit of trouble. ND4SPD didn't really put down any times, it was dialled in as a 12.00, they couldn't get the 4WD running in time so he was trying to put down 800hp to the rears, and struggling.

Yeah Drag Combat was awesome
except i didnt expect the first 4 hours of my day there helping mikey (13_devil) get his underpowered beast back in action. The car that caught my eye and ears the most was the yellow ceffy with some awesome gate. But yeah weather was abit gay otherwise it was an awesome day

why do you guys all ways bag the Commentator they only see this type of this once a year but if you noticed they new the cars the race the national meetings the drags are still a old school place and things will only change if you guys step up and take the v8 field on at there on game you only have to run a 12 sec pass to run in super street

gerrin as much as i love you thats wrong, these guys see these types of cars every week during the drag racing season. shit i know all of the v8 bits and pieces but i dont follow them. If i had to chose my fav holden motor it would be the 383 with the 2 extra bores fused to the back of the block making it a v10 from the 308 v8.
was an awesome day
tons of cars
tons of ppl
tons of hot girls
tons of lebs
there is still room for improvement, and i will talking to both jason from andra and cabin about what i think can be done to improve it.
Well dont to simmo for doing the hardwork to make it a great day
well done to all the antilag.com ppl who entered and ran , it was awesome to see you all out there and racing. everything from m3's to rotors to gtrs all took place in the antilag team, im proud and awed at the turnout
speaking of which , why didnt ppcc run any cars joe? not having a go just wondering
same with silvia wa?
same as ti ?
same as dbh?
clubs dont support this shit, then complain when they pull the pin and dont run it the next year. thats all ill say , and please dont take offence at this but im telling it like it is.
major issue - complete and utter lack of respect for the clubs - we had to park 40 odd cars in our area, we rock up and find transport trucks and other ppl on our area - yeah great way to help us put up a display for you all to check out. "hey yo check out our ford transit van yo shes rolling on 12's"
there needs to be like a 30 min designated break for everyone, so we can all sit down together and enjoy the company, get some food and water, and relax. i didnt get to talk to anyone at all all day which sucked ass for me :(
and banned winning best plate - he wasnt even there! well done on that one organisers.!!! now i got nothing but respect for danny but jesus, even im sure he will agree its not deserved.
hmmmm
well done to mayhem for the awesome nawwwwwwwwwwwwwws display
thanks to brodie for the lift and for the fun during the day
people complain about the commentators every import event.... but from what i can tell they are learning slowly.
and personly i go there to see the cars not to listen to the commentators so what they say really does not bother me... if anything it provides a bit more entertainment for the crowd.

if you dont know the fucken diff between an RB25DET & RB26DETT (4 cyl...bwaahahah!), then you shouldnt be commentating on this sort of event...either that, or grab a few mags and study the fuck up so you dont make ur self look like a tool in front of thousands of ppl.

As I said int he other Drag Combat thread, these commentators are the regular drags commentators. So they know drag racing really well but are a bit iffy on some of the import things.
Maybe the solution is to have get an 'import expert' into the commentary box to comment on cars as they come out and describe some of the features or history.
I prefer having the drags guys there personally, after all this is a drag racing event. It's either these guys messing up RB25 and RB26 or some guy who knows the difference but doesn't have a clue how dial-your-own racing works, all the drag racing people would laugh about how he doesn't know the difference between a dial in and a breakout.
I reckon max there would have been 2000 people at this event, I'm assuming there were lots of people in the pits! Probably more like 1500 total.
Had a laugh reading back through an old copy of Auto Salon magazine the other day, at last year's Drag Combat they claimed there was 8000 people there! And here I was thinking it was only V8 Supercars pumping up attendance numbers...

as a competitor, the number 1 thing missing from the event was the supercruise.
some people think its lame, but it gives a lot of people a chance for a ride in a few cars n shit.... didn't even to pull the oars out down the strip :(
spectators will grow when they dont have to pay $20+ to watch. For a days entertainment, $15 would be good....

Brockas u got a 1.98 60' time??? thats not bad in a super tanker, what tyres did u use?
Very true Paul, i completely forgot about supercruise ... yeah that would rock ... and the show and shine cars could get a chance to come out and even turn a wheel or two !

I doubt it. I'm sure that someone who knew the difference between an RB25 and RB26 would know what a dial in and a breakout was. These guys had no clue on anything. There were many comments during the day about imports that were totally wrong in whichc the crowd smurked and giggled about. If they don't know, they shouldn't try to act like they do.
Maybe there needs to be someone up there WITH the drag racing guys, that knows about imports, and can help explain things to them as they come out. I'm sure it wouldn't take them long to learn, if they know everything about the drag cars already.

some highlights for me apart from running a 12 :)
-keir wilsons drag gtr launching
-bar-b, now that shit is hot
-3 top brand name boxes letting go (PPG, HKS and OS Giken)
-steve mays custom bonnet altering modifications
-bangers RB25 auto abuse
-BMW M3 not being at all shy of the limiter
-When i stopped to see ant's skid in the gtr on the return lane and he kept that fucker frying tyres till well after the start line
-ONALL4Z was insane
-Dylan/Sean combo running fastest RB20 time in WA ever @ 12.48
oh yeah and why the fuck did i have to come up against Sean Tippett in first round of eliminations. That shit just isnt fair. Lucky he backed off but, he ran a 13.707 with a 13.700 dial in BASTARD :) Well done for the win anyways, i can say i was beaten by the best HAHA
speaking of which , why didnt ppcc run any cars joe? not having a go just wondering
We did have one car run, and that was EXPLICIT :)
As for everyone else, the main reason there wasnt much interest from PPCC for this event, is because in the last 6 weeks, we've had 2 track days, and there is another one coming up in a couple of weeks....our members didnt show much interest in this event due to the expenses involved in multiple track days, which is fair enough.
We DID put cars in for show and shine though, just to show that we werent ditching the event all together...and we walked away with 3 trophies overall :D
-3 top brand name boxes letting go (PPG, HKS and OS Giken)
Lets not forget Jme (AKA EXPLICIT) snapped his expensive PPG billet drive shafts after 2 runs on Saturday night..

Can someone please identify this car for me please ... race number, licence plate etc ....
some engine details etc too.
Thanks

great turnout fellars, huge improvement over last year...
now lets see motorplex get off their arse and get organised for once.

It isn't the Motorplex that run the event, Cabin basically hires the track out. The Motorplex has things down to a fine art, enter a national open to find out. Hopefully Drag Combat will be run by them next year.
Oh and I must also issue an apology, my passes were mailed out but they were unceremoniously dumped amongst banking papers by a relative who shall remain nameless...

LOOK I KNOW THESE GUYS AT THE TRACK AND IF SOME ONE LIKE TJ WENT UP AND SAID HEY HOW ABOUT A QUICK LEASON ON IMPORTS YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED THEY MIGHT LISTEN.
SOME OF YOU GUYS MIGHT KNOW ALL ABOUT V8 AND IMPORTS BUT THATS LIKE SAYING ALL TOW TRUCK DRIVERS KNOW HOW TO LOAD A IMPORT WITH OUT FUCKIN IT UP .
I HAVE BEEN AROUND THE DRAG SCENE FOR YEARS AND I ALL WAY THROW THE IMPORT V'S V8 COMMENT ALL THE TIME I ALLWAYS SIDE WITH THE IMPORTS AS I BELIVE THESE ARE THE FASTEST TRUE STREET CARS ALL IM SAYING IS IF YOU WANT PEOPLE IN THE DRAG SCENE TO NOTICE GET OUT THERE MORE TRUST ME THE HARD CORE DRAG NUTS HATE IT WHEN THEY SPEND BULK MONEY ON THE VB COMMODORE AND TRAILER IT TO THE TRACK AND ALL THE REST OF IT AND A GUY DRIVES HIS SKYLINE DOWN PULLS OUT THE LAPTOP RUNS BACK TO BACK LOW 11'S OR BETTER ON PUMP FUEL ON STREET TYRES AND DRIVES IT HOME .
AND JUST BECAUSE THE COMENTATOR DONT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RB 20 AND A SR 20 SO WHAT RUN THE NUMBERS THEN SIT BACK AND WATCH THEM CRY

Very well said. I crew for my mates drag car and you have sumed up his and most of the guys down theres attitude. I particularly liked pointing out Keirs 8sec GTR driving back to the pits.
Most of the problem is that there are no imports racing the ANDRA sanctioned season events so most of these guys will never see a skyline on the qtr except on a wednesday night, cant really blame them I guess.
yah.... Stuey is pretty knowledgeable in the v8 scene, and he's trying to learn more about the imports too.. and as Dcieve's pointed out, Stueys main job at the plex is the National Open events, so he'll be able to spot a Mk3 Supra and a Z32, because there are examples of both running at those meets, but it's not his fault he doesnt know everything about the Jap cars, I'm actually quite surprised that Antilag or one of the other clubs didnt have someone up there all day helping Stuey out...

well i just got back from the wensday nite racing and dam there was a very fast evo there tonight "onall4z" low 10 sec pass on ya silvo and the boys at speedwork's
and next time roy who once again tryed but just missed out on the ten sec pass.
Any way i spoke to Stuey and we agreed he knows stuff all but if you guys listened on saturday he did ask for some baody to come give him a crash course on imports and every time he walked around the pits everybody ran away.
You guys have to open up times are changing and sports compact is here to stay like Stuey said to me these are the cars my kids will be driving V8's arnt dead but they no longer hold number one spot .
so next time your down the track dont be afraid to talk to they guys they carnt help ya if you dont give them a chance.
just my 2 bucks worth i just really want to see sports compact take off over here im even lookin at building a import drag car myself

Great event, a big improvement from last year.
QSR BMW was insane!
Where were all the Lebs in their VLTs? There was not one VLT there all meet!
ND4SPD, ONALL4Z and that hot JZX100 would be my pick of the bunch.....
