Just wondering if this is normal or what? Gauge seems to lower as the revs do.. then on idle it stays a few about 5mm above red..

if the oil pump is linked to crank (belt or chain) i would expect the oil pressure to be lower at idle than whilst revving?

ive heard of that, but it doesnt do it when i first start the car up?

oil pressure is high when you first start the car, as it's cold and thick.

once at operating temp, it will rise and fall with revs, as the oil pump is driven off the crank.

And if your going off the dash gauge, this thread is pointless

The timing chains were rattly, not the oil pumps as far as im aware.

Timing chains were rattly on BA's. Although I have a BF and I had mine changed under warranty because mine were fucked too. But it is very rare (my car was one of 5 reported at the time) for BF's to rattle as they were all metal ones.

The oil pump is a problem mostly on tuned cars and especially ones fitted with aftermarket underdrives. A lot of people change their oil pump to a billet item if they get a tune, for insurance in case if it does let go...

Its pretty normal (on mine anyway) for the gauge to sit very low especially if you've gone for a hard thrash in it, and if the oil is near needing a change. And when going hard in 2nd or 3rd gear the oil pressure needle goes right off the chart.

I'll take mine for a drive tonight and can post a pic to compare.

Just went for a lap and took a pic for you. This is with fresh oil it usually goes down a little bit as the oil wears.

Do you know what oil is currently in it?

yeah as tocchi said make sure its 0w 40. Last time i took it to ford for a service they put taxi oil 10w 30 in it and tried telling me specs have changed till I called fpv to confirm that it hadn't changed
