Hey guys...finishing up the engine bay in the Cefiro, still haven't worked out what I should do with this section of panel.
http://i50.tinypic.com/2mg8tw2.jpg
It's on the left side where the factory Side Mount Intercooler piping enters and exits the engine bay.
As you can see, the panel is has DID have a template for each pipe, and has one pre-drilled hole to mount the pipe itself...but as you can also see...the crackheads that did the rather "straight forward" turbo manual swap, have somehow fucked up cutting the holes.
What should I do with it?
I'm leaning towards cutting it all out in one big neat square, then make a box to mount from underneath that ducts cold air and has a mesh/light filter on the end.
Before I cut, will there be any drama's at the pits with cutting that much section of panel out?
Does anybody have any better idea's ?
Cheers

Cut old section out, weld new in. Cut new holes etc, if you can dummy it all up to get the fit spot on, before you weld the shit back in permanently, it will look 100% better than that abortion.
Shouldn't be any drama's with the pits with the new section in. Just make sure to tidy up all the welds.

I cut out those holes today, into two squares. Still a bit bodge but looks alot neater....can either leave it as is, form the squares into circles, or just replace the whole panel.

Are you cutting the area out to weld in new metal?

Was thinking I'd screw/rivet a sheet of metal up underneath that, and cut out some proper size holes for the intercooler then bog the difference between the two panels...but dunno...where I'm gonna just "find" anotherpanel is beyond me...this is a Cefiro remember. I don't have a welder or any welding experience either.

Someone on here must have welding skills they can lend ya a helping hand with? Cost of a shop doing it?

At this stage a shop is out of the picture.
All doors, every removeable panel, entire front suspension and half the rear cradle is all removed.
Not that I need this done straight away, but it's definately not going to be rolling anytime soon.

be a betta job as one patch, not two. Butt weld it in with a mig welder. if done right u wont even notice it in the engine bay. Neither will the pits.
Weld a plate in, then re drill holes.
Best option.

Cheers boys.
Going to to cute a sheet of metal to fit, cut out the holes and prep it, and find a pingpingpingping with a welder who wants cash.
Will post pics of finished product

OK...80% finished.
Got some 1.6..or 2mm thick Galv..cut it to size, some pop rivets to hold it in, and applied a few layers of bog...waiting for a layer to dry now...needs alot more sanding, maybe some more bog, and some putty to even it out...but here is its current state.

Hey hey its still not done yet.
Underside is all done and cant notice anything out of place...ran out of daylight though, so couldnt take proper pics.
Quicker to just river that sheet in then wait to weld it in...as for finding a whole new panel, again, Cefiro panel...stupidly hard to find.

Sanded all the excess off and gave it a quick coat of primer. Still bumper.

Putty and more sanding to come during the week.
definite improvement, end result should look good with some work
make sure it doesn't look like fiberglass when you finish. i did some fiberglassing in my engine bay on my old escort, got pulled over by the cops one day and they stickered me for it.

If it was a halfcut I'd happily take the panel, but don't go cutting up intact Ceffies, especially off a roller for a non-rollers.

It's an unlicencable junker. I only bought it to strip for parts anyway
