What's a YZF250 worth?

Bit random posting on a car forum but I noticed some of you also like the two wheeled variety. So as my title suggests I was wondering what I could sell a 2001 Yamaha YZF250 for? Note that I have no inclination towards bikes ( I got given the bike as a gift), all I can say is that it is probably in fair condition as all it's plastic shrouds are a bit weather beaten. It starts easily enough. What's the low ball price?

Sorry dude but that will only sell to someone who has no idea about bikes.

That was the first motocross 250F and is prone to dramas, given 08s sell for $5000 that would sell for $1500 maybe $2000

01's had the manual decomp so that does make them less than desirable, if its all stock good condition and has been maintained well u might be able to off load it for around $2000-2500 if ur lucky.

Bikes devalue hell quick specially a popular one like a YZ250f, the fact the yz's change a fair bit every couple years doesnt help either.
never know u might get lucky and find someone who knows fuck all and will pay top dollar. but these are usually the people who only wanna ride the newest and best models.
