You mean WAIX? WAIX is an internet exchange, not a torrent site. Torrent sites locally may make use of WAIX traffic but WAIX itself is not a torrent site or file sharing site.

Most ISPs don't offer free WAIX traffic anymore so local sites using WAIX traffic is pointless.

i think magnet links just open up your torrent program and starts downloading.

Its just letting the torrent upload whilst and after the torrent has completed downloading. It does go towards your download quota but you have to upload on private sites to maintain a good ratio. I prefer private torrent sites, much better quality for a lot of things and just better in general.

TorrentDay for example is easy to keep a good ratio because you recieve points for uploading torrents. With those points you can exchange them for 5GB for example to go towards your upload which will increase your ratio.

To better explain - it's about making sure everyone can get a whole copy of the download.

Bittorrent principle works by splitting up the download into chucks or "pieces". Originally the seed (uploader) has all the pieces, but any single peer (downloader) can grab just one of these smaller pieces and in turn, upload that piece to someone else, thus propagating the collection of pieces much faster than if everyone was downloading the original as a whole.

Ratio is based on maintaining a certain amount of data uploaded compared to how much you've downloaded (site specific, but most rely on you sharing at least half the data back that you've downloaded). Kind of like a representation of how good you are at participating in the whole sharing process.
People who "snatch and grab" are poor sharers who will disconnect their torrent from the sharing pool once they have all the pieces before sharing back what they've grabbed from others, reducing the overall number of those with all pieces (seeds).

There are variations to enforced ratios, with some using minimum timeframes spent seeding the completed download, to those with no ratio at all.
