What kind of fuel system do you have?
Just a high flow in tank? e.g. Bosch 040...
low pressure to high pressure pumps via surge tank?
any other different setups?
I'm having trouble with my fuel pump not coping in the 6500-7000rpm range (apparently a Bosch 044, but it's in the tank???..).
Would prefer to have an in tank pump but depends if it will flow enough fuel.
Car is an s13 with RB25, gt35r, 740cc injectors, FPR...
thoughts and questions please...
is it pressure or flow thats the issue?
apparently? so you've cranked up 400hp but havnt actually pulled the pump to check ?

Get a multimeter and check voltage at the pump.

im pretty sure an 044 is an external pump.... as why I typed apparently

040 in-tank with 700cc's, I have an 044 external but I'm only going to install that when I get a re-tune to run more boost, I'd say it could be to do with your tune

I'm running:
Nismo in-tank lift pump -> 2L surge tank -> in-line filter -> external 044 -> twin feed rail -> 800cc injectors.
Was running 2x 044 but it was overkill and cooking the fuel on the dyno...

In-tank GTR (from memory), 3 x external 044s / surge tank, 6x1000cc inj.
044 is an external pump however I've run one in tank in the past. Initial issue with voltage meant it wasn't performing to full potential - needed to run a direct feed (was a 32GTR).

bosch 040 in tank, 740cc's, stock fpr on a 25.

If its an 044 in tank it will handle 400rwhp easy.
As mentioned check your voltage to the pump, re-wire it with a seperate relay if you have to.

Your FPR could be causing fail as well. If you have your fuel rail pressure too high it will put too much demand on the pump.

Walbro pump, 660cc injectors, turbosmart FPR (not really needed).

The checking your voltage idea is a serious one. factory or old wires cause voltage drop and the less power to your pump = less powered pump, pumping less than capacity!
Check the hoses in the tank.. if you have a split in them, no fuel pump will help you.
044's run well in-tank, but they're better externally.. if you have an 040 in your S13, good chance the fuel pump cradle is butchered to make it fit.
Try a bolt-in lift pump on a stock fuel cradle (Walbro or Nismo or something similar), and an 044 mounted externally with a small surge tank.. it'll work well.

Definitely do this.
My Nismo pump was hard-wired before we moved to an external setup. Made a huge difference.

will check voltage on pump asap

most factory setups only run 12v, as opposed to the 14.4v most pumps are rated at, AND some ecu's will even vary the voltage based on load too.
not to mention alot of them will draw more amps than the factory wire was intended for.

er dont forget if ya increase your fuel pressure, you'll need a re tune.

Walbro intank fuel pump,
62lb injectors
and thats with 480hp
But I sorta need a surge tank soon as cant really boot it under 1/4 tank

Stock GTR pump.
6 x 700cc Sards
Stock wiring in S1x's is pretty small, could be getting too muhc voltage drop when hot.
3L surge tank, 2 external 044's, dual entry rail, aeromotive reg, precision 1000cc injectors, variable pump voltage system removed.

Rb25s make well over 400rwhp with stock injectors, pump, ecu. A well know tuner in perth has assued us of this.
Sorry just thought i would thow it out there as nobody has done so yet.
ps: This infomation may or may not be entirely 100% correct.

Who installed pump & fpr?
Rising rate fpr or fixed?
What fuel pressure you running at the rail?

does it involve crimping of said fuel lines ?
