hey guys, i recently swapped batteries and the radio went on to the lock-out mode when it thinks it is getting stolen. i've looked up and down and it doesn't appear the owner wrote the code down anywhere (i've tried the last 4 digits of the vin# etc, no luck) i know the simple answer is "just go down and ask" but i thought someone might be able to give me a quick answer. how much does a toyota dealer charge to reset it for you?

it's a toyota corolla with just the basic tuner/tape player. i don't really want to put a new deck in there as i normally just listen to triple j and music isn't a big deal to me in the car.

thanks blokes

Ring toyota with VIN and ask for radio code.

i've used all of my goes (i had 10 lol) pretty stupid on my behalf. so it's well and truly locked.

Leave accessories and the radio on for 45 mins and it will unlock

then try the generic radio code which is 1111, 0000 or 1234.

See if that works.

so i just leave the ignition on for ~45 minutes and it should unlock?

It will unlock to let you enter the code again.

Generic codes unlikely to work if they are anything like holden/nissan so once youve got it to allow code entry again ring a toyota dealer for the code.

Not if you leave it on accessories only.

Many Toyotas used generic codes that were meant to be reset by the original owners... most owners didnt reset them as they didnt know they had to.

Can't hurt to try it anyways.
