Jarrod and I have decided on Japan for our honeymoon.

So I realise this must be a slightly weird concept to many of you - going to Japan in April instead of January and missing Tokyo Auto Salon - but since the wedding is in April, April it is :)

We'll be visiting all your typical tourist sites but what workshops/places/shows do you guys suggest would also be worth visiting in lieu of missing Auto Salon?

We'll be spending roughly 10 nights there, with 5 nights in Tokyo.

Thanks!

Tristan is the boy to talk to. (magic1)

He just got back from visiting a heap of workshops in Japan. I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

While I was in japan tas was on so I didn't visit many garages as most cars I was keen to see were in tas. However I made the trip to the nismo omori factory which was worth it.. Managed to go round the back to their garages to check out the 5 or so r35 nismo specs, and a few customer cars. Also would say heading down to Yokohama to the Nissan gallery would be worth it plus a super autobacs is around the corner.. Toyota megaweb is cool, plus the shopping center is a good attraction you can leave the mrs in.

When I was there most ordinary nissan dealerships actually had a lot of 34GTRs and 350z being worked on in the shop. from memory the different nissan shops were color coded differently to suit the classes. check closer to date and there may be a D1 round at Fuji speedway goin on around then. That was my highlight.

public transport is a definite way of travel. Though the omori factory was a bitch for me to find, as I came in on the wrong line to the wrong station, three blocks west of where I thought I was.

UpGarage shops are a must too!public transport is too cheap and efficient to refuse. McDonalds tastes bombed, I lived on cheeseburgers when I was there. Check and see if there are any D1 meets on?!

^ That'd be incredible. I was just about to add Amemiya, that's something I'd almost make the trip just to go and see.

Chiba is where all the cool workshops are.
Mines is in yokohama and will cost you about 200 aud to get there.

Super autobacs are everywhere, go to the one in tokyo itself, i think its in the bay. As tristan said its expensive, taxis are expensive.

Top secret is in chiba. Re amy is definatley worth the visit being married to a rotor nut. You wont be able to get anywhere around chiba without a taxi and they will organise it for you if you ask nicely and buy a couple of souvenirs.

Garage saurus is definately worth the visit. You will need two days to get all that done.. and chiba's about 1.5 hours away from tokyo on the train.

+1 on that one.

Nissan showroom in ginza is worth having a gander at, always something new there.

Do the sony building in ginza, stuff you will never see in english market, weird and wonderful. Standard tourist spec

Check out the mercure hotel in ginza. Central, nicely priced and a great area to be in. Tokyo spaghetti map is something that you will learn to decipher and then its too good.

holla if you need more stuff to do. Tokyo has a million things to do :)

I thought the washington was in the business district.. like near the government building towers (boring). I stayed at Shinjuku Citadines was a great option. Great location, self contained accommodation with cleaning services - allowed for great meals in if we were being cheaper.
