Hi guys, New to the forum.

I dont actually own a Nissan... but a VW beach buggy... with a SR20DET (Well.... when I find one).... I'm pretty new to this so I want to gain more info on this powerplant... The twin port 1600 with Kadrons just dosent cut the power mustard! :D

Just a couple of pics of the build so far...

When picked up.

**EDIT** The SR20DE I had lined up wouldn't work with my project... as it was the FWD version the dizzy and throttle body fouled on the fibreglass... So now I'm looking for a RWD SR20DET!!

Yeh, I figured if I was going to have to replace the head I might as well ditch the DE for a DET in the process :D

should be interesting to drive, an understeering bump steering pig!

good work tho, will be interested to see how it turns out, should go hard.

how will it be mounted? inline 4 hanging off the back of that box will be a fair bit longer than the current engine.

no need to swap head's, i would think the plenum would unbolt and be a straight swap ?

heaps of s13 owners have gone the de+t route with good results.

Not sure if this will be helpful at all but the off road racing guys used to use a lot of ej20t's on their buggies. They arnt as long as the sr and they are lower too. I think they had them mated to the vw boxs but they didnt always live. If your not racing and just having fun it might live longer?? probably a similar price tag and similar power output as well.

Why the fascination with an Inline 4? The Flat 4 would bolt up easier and the physical aspects as Mr Sparkle noted would be a positive over the in line 4.

13b > ej20 > sr20 (for this application)

Looks like a sick project though. My Dad had one back in the 80's, and has been talking 'bout another build for years now. One day...

Nice project! if anyone wants to build a similar project i have an adapter plate, clutch and flywheel kit that will allow any rotary engine to bolt up to VW box. $300 ono.

At least the SR will sound like the original motor .
