View Full Version : Brake Thread Repair?

So here's the stroy from A to Z, if you wanna get.....
Replaced coilovers with pit friendly stock suspension. Had to loosen the banjo bolt on the caliper so i could put the brake line in the bracket, and slide the brake line clamp/pin thing over it. When I went to tighten the banjo bolt up, it wouldn't screw in, it then wouldn't loosen. I managed to slowly undo it and it came out, along with the caliper's thread.
So now my S14 caliper is useless, because there is no thread for the banjo bolt.
Is there anyway to repair this, that is safe, and can be done ASAP?
This is the second time this has happened (the first, i just replaced the caliper), so i think it's the banjo bolt fucking my shit up. Pretty sure its one to suit S13 brakes, but has been cut down to fit the S14 brakes.
best place for banjo bolts?
Many Thanks
xoxo

Good to know. I might pop down on my lunch break ha. :(
Would helicoil be safe? Last thing i want is to find out the dude that bought my car died when his brakes failed after doing a top speed run.

I must give a hearty belly laugh at this
S14 caliper is cast iron... you must be going hard to strip threads in that twice
And yes a helicoil is safe in that area.... but if Bart has replacement calipers... do that
Saves pulling the caliper apart to do the job

Still owe me 300 bucks for a warranty claim for a commodore clutch master that pissed out upon install.
Also had them send out rebuilt calipers with antisieze on the slides, nice job dudes!
