..Apple security's mighty walls fell on the midnight of Thursday, March 18. At that time, Powell [A 27-year-old Apple Software Engineer working on the iPhone Baseband Software] was at Gourmet Haus Staudt, just 20 miles from the company's Infinite Loop headquarters, having his fun. Around him, other groups of people were sharing the jolly atmosphere, and plenty of the golden liquid...

Well here it is.
Courtesy of someone who is now getting his ass kicked for leaving it in a bar.

Features:
Bigger camera + flash
Different Sim location and card
Flat back
New volume buttons
etc..

I would not be surprised at all if this is true, Apple have one of the greatest marketing teams of all time... Hell look at the iPad, 300,000 people bought a useless device, on the first day... just in the US.

It is a toss up between the new iPhone or Nexus. Had a good play with the nexus in the US and loved it, but I love my iPhone so ill give the new one a chance to come out before i make decision.

I don't see what the hype is...

IMO, the success of the iPhone is thanks to the marketing of the iPod.

I think it is amazing to see how many people are fooled into believing the iPod is a unique device and somehow different from any other MP3 player. The same goes for the iPhone...so-much-so that they are referred to their names as opposed to 'just a phone or MP3 player'.

Even the iPad - HP have had a similar device out for the last 12-18months, so have a dozen other crowds.

I'm not against Apple - they do make some good products, but I really think their marketing makes average consumers believe no other device by other manufacturers is capable of doing such things.

I've been saying this for ages...

2 year contracts.

2 years between releases. Funny that.

Good timing for me as I signed on day 1 for a 3g.

If it has a better camera more battery.. Well I'm sold. Happy as is.

To be honest, they'd be better of doing 2 year contracts with 1yr-1.5yr releases.

All the obsessive pingpingpingpings will update phones at a higher cost to terminate contract, just to have the 'latest and greatest'.

Either way, more battery and bettery camera is the only real downfall at the moment. In saying that, I just charge every night and have a dedicated camera.

isn't that what marketing was all about though?

i was one who wasn't going to be sucked into the iphone hype, i refused to buy one because i prefer to spend my money on something that will do what i want it too, not because it's the latest thing.

i bought one a few months ago after fiddling with a few other peoples, and honestly it is the most functional, easy to use phone i've ever bought. it does everything I want from a phone. (apart from deliver coffee and give blowjobs)

Optus still do 1 year contracts.

I just signed up to one a month or two ago.

Best idea, as the amount you can sell your iPhone for after 1 year offset's the amount you pay for it over 12 months.

ie. $40 a month is what I'm paying for my handset (on top of a $55 plan).

Cost me $480 over 12 months, sold it for $450. So basically no handset payments and get to upgrade every 12 months.

Will keep doing it every year.

^^ what he said

will stick to the android. And have had both. opinions.......

that phone shows preety much how people are dedicated to the iphone, they upgrade to a near current spec,(front camera, 5mp, flash) which most phones have had for nearly 2 years and the masses flock. It is the OS that sells the phone.

maybe one day it will multitask and be able to run apps in teh background and all shall be well.

Regarding the camera issue I totally agree. BUT the current 3MP is a better camera than most mobile 5mp and half of the 8mp. Mp only equals size. The iPhone camera is much better image quality than almost any other phone

as I mentioned before. Apple are always a bit late with specs and features. But they do them the best

I was tempted to go for the T-Mobile G1 back when it came out but decided against it - as Android was too immature of a product.

Now the Nexus One comes out 1.5 years later, never again would I purchase another iPhone.

iTunes limitations, terrible battery life, shit camera, and the fact I NEED to jailbreak it in order to perform some of the most mundane basic features I had on previous phones - leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Joe
21-04-2010, 07:25 AM
Was going to buy a Google phone, but it doesn't have Outlook calendar and notes functionality fitted as standard. FAIL.

Blackberry 9700 for the win.. does everything I need it to do, and the camera is kick arse.

Depending on how good the iPhone 4G is, I may be swayed though.

Dagon
21-04-2010, 07:31 AM
I broke my no-early-adoption-of-new-hardware rule and got a G1 the week it hit Australia. Absolutely love it, except for the battery life. It's not exactly a fashion statement since it's butt-ugly, but out-performs every iPhone in hardware, software, features, speed, games, usability, typing, and just general practicality.

The jesus-christ-that's-bad battery life and the fact that it looks like an aborted mongoloid is a downside for some... but hey, that's what the Nexus One is for. Man, that thing's shit-hot.

At the end of the day.

If you like it buy it, if you dont, then dont bother.

Those who use it, swear by it. Like myself. Its an amazing piece of technology.

Those who critisise it, will only appreciate it once they start using it.

I for one was always a nokia person, after getting the iphone, i realised just what you do with a phone rather than just calls and sms.

To those who think the iphone is too brittle.

i have dropped it countless of times on my wooden floors, on concrete etc. left it in a hot car.

over 2 years almost, beisdes a few scratches on the back ( i dont use a case) nad i small crack on the case, its still in pretty good condition, and i use mine constantly.

<3 my nexus one :D

good to see the iphone catching up in specs! for those saying that android lacks, well Froyo (next version) is coming out soon, will double the memory in my nexus (not functional in current OS kernel), JIT compiler (super increase in speed)... etc

this new iphone has great styling imo - i wonder how many accessories/docks will have to be redesigned to suit it though.

ps. look at the Desire. HTCs version of the Nexus One, fixes a few issues, increases a few specs, is amazing in general.

lastly, the pics I take on my nexus kick ass, they are such high quality for a phone - same with the video - way better than my mates iphones :)
