Our lounge room rug did not survive the great storm of 2010 so we're off to buy another one...

So who is your favourite dodgy rug merchant in town? Cannington area would be best but yeah anywhere really

Have the rugs-a-million tv ad's not been drilled into your head yet :P

They have been for the past 5 years overstocked, and closing down apparently.

we got a turkish rug from rugmart I think it was called.. next to bobjane is ossy park..

We went in there with the intentions of buying a large cheap rug, the owner was very helpful an explained that cheap rugs are exactly what they are. Said to watch out for rugs which are not woven and just glued to a backing peice as they are not washable and are not very high in quality. Rugs that are woven are porous and can be washed down and hung out to dry, glued ones start to fall apart over time. I love doing it to ours as it comes back nice and fluffy :) Acrylic rugs are also annoying and scratchy to lay on. Ours cost just shy of $900 but its worth it for how long it will last

the way to tell if its hand stitched by some arabs in a cave is that on the reverse side its a mirror of the top side. if its made by a computer the pattern on each sides wont match up.

Yeah not keen on spending $900 on something for the dog to keep her feet warm. The old one was a hand me down but dont think it would have been an expensive one.

but good tips we'll have a look :)

900 dollars on one rug to last 20 years,

100 dollar one to last 5

Buy another so it looks new and fresh and not outdated

Wonder who wins this one

Mums rug is over 50 years old and still looks good, they make reproduction rugs to look like hers so it is still in style.

as verbatim said.. 100 bucks will get you a really small rug, china rugs of any decent size will be about 2-300

There is a rug shop in Morley behind Bunnings called Boag Rugs. We bought our rugs from there. Woven, not glued, and they cost f*ck all.

If you're after a real Persian rug and don't want to deal with dodgy dealers my family is selling its collection.

From 10 years old to over 100 years, real Persian rugs will last if you look after them right.

You're looking to spend about $1k right?
