Urban Golf

After stumbling across the phenomenon on the world wide internets, we decided to get a crew together and give it a go. The rules and what not are pretty cruisy, the main focus is on safety and NOT destroying property, if asked to move on, please do and try to leave everything as it was when you started. Its a democracy so everyone decides on rules as you go along but urbangolf.org gives you a few golden ones.

For example, you start by teeing of toward a target (lets say a particular light pole) if its a small target, if the ball passes within 2-3ft, thats considered in. If its a big target, like a fence or a dumpster, you should be trying to hit it directly. How ever many strokes it takes, is how many points you get, player with the least points wins! Lose a ball, 3 point penalty.

We started our first course in the oconnor industrial area, and then last night tried north mole... Now we have a feel for how it all operates, next spot will have to be somewhere a little more built up, trying to avoid police, security and CCTV is a priority though, dont want to be broken up 3 holes in!

We would like to see some more groups getting into it, and hosting a perth championship! Get to cashies, get a shitty club, some tennis balls and get going! Heres a few photos

We used to plax Xtreme Bocce... Throw the white ball as fucking far as you can (up trees, on roofs, etc) and then try to lob your bocce ball.. Good fun when on the bottle

i'd say the holes varied from 70-150m? Par 3 to probably 5 or 6 at the longest... Just use common sense, the tennis balls dont go too far.. We use cheap ones too so they dont go rolling off like crazy

done this a few times, but with proper golf balls. jump into a driving range to get balls then just chill across south street hitting them into the KFC bucket. hit a few cars and trucks, been chased by a guy in a hilux and police of course haha yet to be caught. lots and lots of fun :D

lol!!! this is awesome.. have done this before with my mates.

during exams, when at uni all hours, we bring the sticks and play the "RANDOM MASTERS". ie. start from the side of the oval, go around the library, over the law school building, then back to hit the light post on the oval.. PAR 15. Except we were using real golf balls. haha! least amount of shots wins the hole. winner chooses the next hole. best out of say 5 or 9 holes.

been asked to clear off by security a few times, sometimes had to do a runner. buildings were impacted by ball in motion on occasions, but no damage sustained - luckily!


also used to do this at my golf club as juniors when there was no one about - ie par 8 from 14th tee to 4th green. haha. SOOOO MUCH FUN!
