Hi all, as the title explains can you run 2 gauges off 1 sender unit? When i purchased the car it already had a water temp gauge, electronics hooked up however no sender unit, so it was just for show. I purchased a new water temp gauge and have installed it, so was wondering if i could just split the wire from the sender and feed it to the new and old water temp gauge? one is an auto meter gauges the other is a caliber gauge..

thanks

Why do you need 2 water temp guages?

The sender units are a calibrated unit of Resistance, As the sender changes temperature its impedence changes and this is how the level current is changed to replicate on the gage.

So running two guages may work, as its normally an earth circuit, however you may want to put a diode in the system to stop and cross flow.

Why the hell do you want two temperature guages?

because its just going to sit there anyway, as the new gauge is 60mm old is small.. if i remove it, it will be empty slot that i cant modify.. plus new one is in F other is C so i thought why not just hook it up.

There are alot of factors that will stop this from working, Id kind of need to see it or a schematic to figure it out.

both units only require one wire from the sender.... rest is just 12v from ign... where else would there be a problem?

Give it a crack, Worst that will happen is they wont read correctly.

It should be a level of resistence through the sender if its a one wire circuit to earth.
