View Full Version : Air Filter.
Hey all,
Im after some help on finding an air filter to suit my car. My turbo has a 5" intake and i have very limited room.

This pic shows the amount of room i have available, best pic i got. Does anyone know if you can get a filter that is basically just a flat filter element, or know of any cone type ones that will fit??
There is around 2 inches, and it cannot be to high or it wont clear the bonnet support.
Cheers, Matt.

K&N website has alot of filters listed with there sizes/dimensions, could give you an indication of whether anything they have will fit.
Should have noted, I've already looked on the K&N site and no luck.
Worse comes to worse I'll buy a panel filter, cut out and hose clamp it on, kind of like the picture above.
dont think anything k+n has will fit in there.
can you post a better pic of the general area?
looks like you will need a fabricated box or at least a hose to where a pod can fit

do a setup similar to the ASE T1000 kit for LS1's?? 90 degree bend and ally tube down below the headlight with K&N large pod hanging off it.
Ill try find a better pic tomorrow.
There is nowhere to run a pipe for a pod, it's all very tight in that area and I'm not cutting another hole in my bay.
The headlight is almost as deep as the radiator support, a shallow filter is really the only option.
if you can fit a flat panel filter in there, a custom box/adaptor may be the best or only way then.
also will be less restictive than elbows/pipework to a pod
im not a big fan of hks pods but one of them on a excentric adaptor might work as well

Mushroom type filter? I'm sure one of the import boys can post a pic of what I'm talking about
i think you mean the hks pod i mentioned - needs an excentric adaptor to clear bonnet & fit turbo inlet id say
That panel filter idea could work 405ATW, I'll have to look into it.
Yeah steppo I know the type you mean, but they are hard to get with a 5 inch neck and only 2 inches deep.

Something like this with a 3-5' adaptor pipe...or no room?

Dont think there would be room.
Here are a couple of other pics to give you an idea.

I thought Uni Filter may may a sock type setup that big but it seems not.
Best bet looks like it may be to make a box up, with a small panel filter.
Could always get some wire mesh to cover the opening, and then wrap some filter foam over that?

Fabricate a neat airbox in the corner overlapping the turbo, then you can utilize an oem style flat panel filter?
