Im looking into a custom billet twin plate clutch from NPC Clutches. Interested to hear from anyone using them to see how they stand up against other brand name clutches. Had a close look at one today and they look alot more solid than any japanese clutch I have seen. Every part of the clutch is thicker! looks arent everything, keen to hear others experiences.

cheers

My old boss uses a Xtreme carbon triple .....best clutch ever hands down.
So driveable but yet the more you heat it the more it grips. Well worth the cash!

Hey Rich,

I know this doesn't answer your question - but this is what is being fitted in mine next Friday @ WTF Auto - after our phone convo I checked Twin Plates etc. - not enough cash flow my end unfortunately. :(

Heavy Duty Cushioned Button Clutch including X-Treme Chrome-moly Flywheel:
DCBHD: Dampened Cushioned Button Heavy Duty. Using a similar upgraded pressure plate to the HD system, the Cushioned Button clutch plate features a sprung centre and multiple sintered friction pads attached to a full face lining. There is a cushioned Marcel segment between the two sides of the disc, and this gives more progressive clutch engagement, and minimises the shudder that is characteristic of sintered linings.

About $2040 with genuine Toyota fluids and SupraWA membership Discount.

The other option was:
DSBMS: Dampened Solid Button MotorSport.

But don't think it will suit my purposes just yet.

a mate of mine runs a NPC twin plate in his s15 with a built engine making around 420rwhp.

Ive also taken the car for a peddal and i really like the feel of the npc clutch. its not stupidly heavy on the peddal, and it also can be 'ridden' a little to take off...

another bonus is the fact that they are built over in qld from memory so when ever we have needed parts, they had them in stock. ( we replaced the drive plates when the new motor went in to ensure it was all fresh). also the dude at NPC recommended a needle roller spigot bearing for the sr20.

I had a NPC clutch in my DR30

It was a single plate, held 380rwhp when i had it and much more with new owner.

Was pretty heavy on pedal feel though. id assume a triple or twin be much lighter

they are hardly cheap. Over $2500 for a twin plate.

haven't personally used NPC before, but all feedback i have heard has been positive.

the big advantage would be all parts are ex east, and not ex japland.

heard alot of bad feedback from xtreme clutches, and good and bad from exedy.

os giken twins are also very good (what im using), but with the cost of freight the NPC may work out slightly cheaper. maybe trying emailing jesse streeter for a cost of an OS clutch, or any other jap clutches you might be keen on.

will also need an OS push pull convertor to work with the NPC clutch. have emailed RHD and Greenline with no response. Anyone no who might carry them in Oz? or any other online stores that are reasonable priced?

cheers

Do clutches come with some sort of warranty??

Mine is booked in for next week Thursday, and the clutch has already been ordered. :(

You'll be fine.... Used to sell quite a few extreme clutches at my old work and never had a problem. Their earlier setups were shit but they have done a big turn around. As far as I am aware wa perf use xtreme don't they ?

Yes.. for normal driving... not drags , drift or being a tard

Called Xtreme the other day and they've got a 20,000ks or 1 year warranty, whichever comes first.

Mine's not hit the ks yet but is 1 year and 3 weeks old so I'm fucked.

Moral of the story: if it's going to fail, make sure it fails while it's under warranty.

I ran an NPC twin in my Clubsport. My car ran a 10.9@127, about 100 x 1.5 - 1.6 60 footers and did about 15,000kms. Pulled it out and it looked like new but the clutch plates were 1/2 to 2/3 worn. It costs about $600 to fully redo the clutch at this stage FYI. It grabs every time and I mean every time. Bloody awesome clutch IMO.

As for the way it drove. mmmmmmmmm, it takes some getting used too. At first it was nearly undrivable. After taking it to the drags and flogging it a couple of times it come good and was easily punted around.

It certainly isn't for everyone. This clutch is for those with big power levels that wants the sucker to grab everytime. It aint a miss daisy clutch.

My 2 cents.
