So the saga continues with the man vs. machine. . .
Since Powercruise last year I rebuilt the gearbox myself; but had third gear shot peened this time around and also smoothed out the gates for the selectors so it's not as notchy. Shit quality oil recommended by the gearbox builders was to blame for the destruction, as once it got hot, the oil thinned out too much and it couldn't provide the friction to match up the synchros. I've got some Nulon fully synthetic racing oil in there now and didn't cause an issue at a CAMS come n try day at Barbs, so all good.
I then took it on the last official Antilag cruise and all was good up until the last leg when it developed a misfire. Thought the worst but turned out to be two fucked coilpacks, no less than about 2000km old.
Put it on the dyno and fixed the misfire

3 years of glowing like this and the ebay special is still going strong

Made 449rwhp on the roller which is a less than they expected since it made 585hp on the hub.

With it all sweet I began the drive home to advertise it on Gumtree. 2km from home I fed it to it to overtake someone and then got the turbo death whine and that was the end of the TD07. The exhaust wheel had been thrusting into the oil deflector over time and this last boost was enough to make it stop dead from metal on metal contact and the comp wheel spun on the shaft.
Weighed up my four options;
-Rebuild: Would be under a grand but found out after bulk research that no one makes a replacement exhaust wheel
-Replace with brand new TD07 from Japan: Straight swap over but at $2200 i could get something newer.
-Replace with GTX: GTX was too much $$$ and they don't come with a T4 twin scroll rear housing
-Replace with PTE: Ended up going a 6266 from Realstreet for $1700 which was similair specs to the old turbo

Only had to change dump pipe for v-band but decided to move the gate now that I didn't have any auto oil lines running down there anymore.
One small set back was the v-band flange which I wasn't paying over $200 for and not having a locating step lip. Dad came to the rescue and machined up a custom v-band flange that actually locates on the taper inside the exhaust housing.

Changed gate inlet from this . . .

To this, still a pingpingpingping though

Made up a new screamer for it

And it now looks pretty much the same as before after finishing it off today. I tidied up the wiring and vacuum lines that used to run over the driver side strut tower to down the side of it.

It's booked in at WTF on the 25th for a retune so will be interesting to compare graphs as i'm not turning the boost (still on 26PSI) Knowing my luck something else will break.
TLDR; Fixed car, broke it, fixed car, broke it, fixed car, retune!!!
