Im chasing a new radar detector as some pingpingpings broke into my daily a few weeks back and pinched my bel rx65pro. What do you all recommend as a replacement? I know there are better options than a rx65 just wanted to see what you all think. Had been looking at the whistlers they seem pretty good.

I think one of these would definately help too http://www.antilaser.info/products/
AL G9 Dual though to Quad will reduce your risk of Lidar hits. The WAPS use the LTI20-20.
+1 Also for valentine one... saved me a heap of times, also one of the few that will detect laser on occasion (handhelds).
Side note: I can probably hook up a group buy to get em cheap if you want / enough people want them... Else (Shameless plug) Rob @ Volatile sells detectors (Most belonix) or my mate owns/runs: www.delonixradar.com.au who do them cheap to your door.

Always wanted a Jammer, they seem likje the best solution :)
Agreed... but $1000 for a good one... cheaper then a hoonlaw charge!
Rumor has it no one has been successfully charged for using one as yet either?

Another Val 1 user, great detector, Jeremy at Delonix http://www.delonixradar.com.au/ is on PWRX forums and does a great price, may be worth asking him about GB ?

+1 for Valentine 1
a friend of mine worked with some people in delonix radar and he recommended valentine 1 above everything else because of its ability to intercept signals from very far distances.

Been running a Beltronics STI XR for years. Paid for itself quick smart. Although 1 thing I have noticed is it's ability to pick up signals seems to worsen as it gets older. Which reminds me, I must take it in for "service"

Will V1s help you against the new system (LIDAR based speed cameras)?
As I've said before on here, the V1 is the best of the windshield mounted detectors without a doubt.
The latest Whistler detectors provide plenty of warning too, especially when mounted vertically.
The Beltronics / Escort detectors are decent and respond really well to a vertical bracket but they have plenty of "calibration" issues.
I wouldn't even look at any other brands to be honest.
Buy from Jeremy at www.delonixradar.com.au and you won't be disappointed.
Will V1s help you against the new system (LIDAR based speed cameras)?
Yes. It has significantly better laser detection than any of the other detectors. There are several videos on youtube of the V1 vs Poliscan and it seems to provide enough warning. I guess we have to wait and see for confirmation but odds are that the V1 will outperform all other detectors.

if you guys want jammers then i will find out which one my mate used...and is selling it but i dont have the cash right now for it.
they are "parking sensors" and he had one at the front and one at the back. inside the car he had a light and a switch. laser gun hit it and jams the signal and operator gets a error. while inside the cabin it beeps like crazy and light flashes. so slows down, turns the "parking sensors" off and the operator tries again and gets reading....thinks the gun glitched and goes on about his day while you get away with it :D
one on the rear would jam signal from the rear facing cameras ;)

on a side note were do you take bell radars to get "serviced"?
how often should this be done?

Heard of plenty of people going through the court system with obstruction charges using jammers.

+1 for interest in a Valentine 1 group buy. Are there enough people interested in this for it to go ahead?

Will let ya know, will get in touch with the guy selling it this weekend. :)
Whichever detector you go for, make sure you get a vertical mount bracket. Makes signal a lot stronger (read: earlier)

No doubt there is, but I think they'll have a hard time proving intent. Not my problem if my diode based reversing/distance warning device interfered or operated on the same wavelenght as the LTI Marksman Laser gun.

I have a verticle mounted Belltronics STI detector and the other day it went off 10 meters from camera...bugger all warning
every other time it gives HEAPS of time to slow down...even detecting cameras firing away from me on the other side of the road but not this time
is there a new type of radar that the Bell is having trouble with or did the operator have it at such an accute angle to the road that i didn't detect it in time?

well the camera wasn't shooting backwards so il stick with accute
anyways, any thoughts on why the STI didn't detect this time?

Bel STi's are hit and miss with Multanovas as they were not designed to detect European low powered cameras as a primary.
They scan the entire USA Ka range (2.6GHz) and therefore can miss the low powered Multanovas at 34.3GHz
Bel STi-R is better.
Or V1 or an old 990i
But they will be phasing out the Multanovas with the new Poliscans, and the V1 is the undisputed champ at detecting laser.
Most of the time mounting a Bel vertically will drastically improve detection. I'm very surprised you only got 10m that time ?!?

Wow, I fail at maths at night time!!!
Acute didn't seem the right word for being angled more across the road than down it, if you know what I mean.
Meh, my bad anyway lol
