Pretty much perfect.
Solid power, big brakes, suspension, great aesthetics inside and out.
plan to take it to the circuit to make use of the brakes?

thanks for all the comments all.
much appreciated.
I wouldnt change to chrome handles. Black looks evil! Love the Calais boot lip. So smooth.Gav this is what the chrome handles look like. They arent chrome but the surround is chrome and the centre is colour coded to the car. i was thinking it would be a nice subtle break up

love the brakes, should stop nicely now... everything looks tip top except the wheels. but am biased as they are not japanese or australian made...hate chev badges with a passion!
i looked for over 8months for rims that fitted the look of the car and most importantly cleared the brakes which caused a fuk load of dramas
i am looking at changing the rims in a couple months time so have been told that there are ways to get some nice jap rims potentially in 3 piece, etc that are gonna be right offsets, clear brakes etc....so some advice will be needed soon on where to look
Pretty much perfect.
Solid power, big brakes, suspension, great aesthetics inside and out.
plan to take it to the circuit to make use of the brakes?yeah got the 18" rims at home that i am gonna paint in black and throw some RE55s and have a play at some circuits...just waiting for a couple months time for some things to settle then i know exactly when i can do it all.
stumps.

Im thinking you are right! They do actually look sharp. I thought the surround might have been chrome too. The chrome trim on the windows in that pic are growing on me too!!
Very nice mate.

Really well presented car. I don't know if I'm a fan of the rims, or not. But either way the do suit the car well.
Just a question, is there any reason you went for the AP Racing brakes, over say the VE HSV option? They look hot as all fuck behind those wheels.
If I could ask also, what did the cam combo cost you? (Feel free to pm if you prefer). And how have you found the fuel economy? I've been considering going the cam route on my daily for some time.

good to see positive responses to the car in what is a predominantly import forum
yeah when i first heard of the chrome door handles on the 60th anniversary models i was a little WTF...but seeing them in pics and the flesh they look great
gts0039 - HIDs were an optional extra on the Holden Statesman and HSV Grange although not many ticked that box.
evil.e30 - doing up a custom grill of just honey comb mesh throughout but the factory honey comb mesh. the removal of the badge and the insert instead was just a quick fix to get the car ready badgeless for MV so needed something quick and ok looking. hopefully the custom grill will be sorted in the next couple months too.
Really well presented car. I don't know if I'm a fan of the rims, or not. But either way the do suit the car well.

If I could ask also, what did the cam combo cost you? (Feel free to pm if you prefer). And how have you found the fuel economy? I've been considering going the cam route on my daily for some time. The aftermarket AP Racing brakes are 6pot front and two piece rotors front as opposed to the 4pot fronts and single piece rotors of the HSV.
The HSV brakes are also AP Racing brakes just with the HSV logo.
Also the biggest factor for going AP Racing not VE HSV brakes was that the VE HSV brakes need a VE HSV rim to clear and there was basically no aftermarket rim to fit them at the time and getting smaller rims for track to fit was impossible back then not that its much better now. The AP Racing brakes on there now fitted behind the factory 19" SSV rims i had and also fit behind the VE 18" SS rims i have for track use. Means semi slicks are not gonna tear me a new hole.
will pm ya about price
in regards to fuel economy its pretty great with this cam. its peak torque and power and in the rev range for daily use so its alot of run. peak torque hits at 4000rpm and from 1500rpm it gets going all the way till it peels off power at 6400rpm. limiter set to 6800rpm
i get bout 350km-450km used as a daily. that includes peak hour traffic, through the city and subi, etc with the odd fwy run during weekends mixed in. from factory on round town its gone up 2L/100km extra roughly. used to get 12.5-14L/100km...now get roughly 14.5-16L/100km through peakhour and city stuff like i said.
on the hwy its great. if you can control yourself you can get 700km out of a tank. Coral Bay when the car was new was done with less than 2 tanks. margaret river trip in november i got there and back without needing to fill 620km all up which was a 10.2L/100km. that included some quick overtaking and having a play here and there
cam went in at 22,000km/10months old the car....now 2months shy of 3years old and just under 78,000km sitting today...still going strong :)
sorry for long post

burnout please!
One of the nicest VE around mate, love how subtle everything is.
I think the chrome window surrounds and handles will finish it off nicely.
Im not really a big fan of the wheels tho.
nice VE SS, i was thinking you should get a grill like the HDT has something different to the chevy bag what people have on there VE.

thanks all for the comments :D
Davo - problem with the HDT grill is it blocks the air that normally goes through the grill. especially with my OTR intake picking up air from between bonnet and the frame but mostly from the area behind the grill infront of the radiator etc then the HDT one simply will suck power. especially since i am making up a scoop to sit behind the grill to feed the OTR air more directly
PornS15 - yeah that was me at the show and shine in mandurah for Club Motorvate.
  the brakes are always a big hit and fill the 20" rims very nice:3some: ...even Franz was eyeing them off and thinking where there was some spanners to remove them for his car at a MC Motorsport day

My thoughts are more go fast bits!!!!!!!! :boink:priorities arent at go fast bits yet. my 420rwhp daily driven is enough for now. next go fast mods mean $15K+ spend for a blower or $20K+ for a stroker
just found out that is seems i am not getting my lump sum of lease allowances back tax free but its gonna be taxed again! :(
