Im looking to buy my second car and ive learnt a few things from my first car, such as i want turbo or 6 cylinder and NO FWD!!!! My price tag is about the 6-7 grand mark anyone got any suggestions on a good car that offers a reliable engine, power aswell as potential?
I was thinking an '88 Cressida.. Ive read these cars have endless potential in the way of power, Someone also told me these cum standard with LSD?
Any advice would be much appreciated
cheers

They havent quite got endless potential for power, unless you do an engine conversion..

Agreed, a 1JZGTE conversion would give it strong, reliable power. I think these engine packages are worth btween $1500-$2K.

if u want a cressida and assuming u want the most rounded shape, its very late 88 model to 93

they come with 7mge engine stock liek 140ish kws , pretty boring engines

if u buy a jzx81 chaser front cut it will all bolt in, nothing to be cut or welded, prolly do it all urself bar the wiring. in saying that chaser cuts aint super common, might have a bit of a hassle finding a manual jzx81 and if u do expect 3500 +

nice car once ur finished thoguh.

dont waste ur time with using w5X series boxes, they might hold up to the power, but it aint worth the hassle, spend the extra do it right
get R154

not quite a cressida but i have a 89 toyota soarer for sale
has the turbo version of the cressida engine (late 88+) 7mgte

182kws stock
stock lsd

Ross the Cres king

I had a 91 Grande w/ 7MGTE w/ HKS T04E etc which had a few issues (the conversion was dodgy as hell I found out after buying it) but damn awesome cruiser. Auto and LSD, didn't handle well but leather, CD player, cruise control. I really wish I still had it for a daily...

Better off buying a pre-done one - don't do the conversion yourself unless you've got a bit of cash up your sleeve and have a thick skin. 1JZGTE converted 5 speed would be the ultimate sleeper :)
