View Full Version : perth's UK GT
hi all, thought i'd throw up my car, its about time.
its a 1985 ae82 UK GT-Limited corolla. and before you all roll you eyes, hear me out. it is 1 of 3 2door ae82 corollas' in WA with 1 other one aslo owned by me. the third is curently in a unknown state somewhere at a workshop SOR. being a ford mechanic the best comparison is, its about as fast as a AUIII TE50. it might be fwd but i love the styling, sound and plain rarity of it.
its almsot 100% original and in perfect nick.
the only real mods are a 2" zorst and a pod filter
i plan on keeping it as original as possible apart from a gze swap sometime in the future.
now the obligatory pics

Personally yes I'd remove the shopping list as well but if they came out standard with the car (Which they might of I have no idea lol). Keep them for originality. If I had a rare car like that best thing to do is try restore it make it absolutely mint. Then go hunting for performance mods if thats your thing.
Spray it, dump it, give it sum shoes.. got a soft spot for these cars!

prefer a 20v than the gze in this!
yes sticker removal is high on the list, but apart from tidying it up for rego, all im going to do is enjoy it, i semi destroyed my old one trying to make it into something it isnt (racecar) so this one is purely for the love of driving

Needs some nice rims to set it off and fill those surprisingly wide guards.
I like this car for the fact that it is pure sleeper :)

its about as fast as a AUIII TE50.
250kw vs 86kw. crackpipe down bro
240km/h on the speedometer? that's a bit optimistic.
from one corolla owner to another, i'm sure it's a ball to drive on your own.

Even with the 100kw 4AGE it would get chopped.
TE50's do a 14.1 quarter standard, this would barely do a mid 15.
GZE equipped maybe.
I reckon I'd give it a good run in my Impreza GX.

These and the 4 door were quick in their day no doubt, very chuckable and quite pokey off the line. But by todays standards nothing special.
GZE is a good option as its a strong as fuck block, can wind killer boost into them and they love it,but getting harder to find and harder to support.
20V is another good option, go hard N/A andcan take a turbo with lowish boost.
In the end its an old FWD so dont go too hard with it mod wise, you'll still get chopped by any light modded Gen 3/XR8/6T.

remove stickers, ditch the wheels, lower it on some low offset 15s, ditch front driving lights, get some tint on straighten the license plate, get a smaller straight exhaust tip and finally fix paint and pinstripe the front bar and you should have a fairly nice daily.

I have a mate with a 4 door unlicensed, bit of rust and igniter is gone, but it did run and has extractors, 2.5" exhaust and lowered springs, probably could have it for 200 bucks.
ok i was being a bit optimistic comparing it to a te50 mabey AU XR6 is a bit more fitting. and i was thinking brand new these ran about a 14.5 with the 86kw motor (well thats what motor magazine rekons anyway) and it does currently have a 100kw in it. On another subject it is really hard to find decent wheels for these, because they have a 4x100 stud partern instead of 4x114.5 and with the guards being so wide i can easily fit some 215 wide rubber to it, but finding the right offset and yada yada yada. it's realy more a cruiser and head turner because of the lack of passenger doors

how is it hard to find 4x100 wheels?
almost every FWD runs them... what offset?
14.5 stock, nah...

Ha! a 15.5/16 more like it. even with a 20v you would be lucky to crack a 14.
20v ST in this would be more fun than a gze, gze sucks in fwd format
215' s scraped like a bitch on my ae92, I dare say a 205 will be the max it can run

I remember keatings AE82 back in the day, that thing went bloody hard haha.
The AE82 is a good platform and being 2 door it does look interesting.
Good luck with it
I really really really dont want to be rude in what I say here.
