Rantopotamus

Obviously moneys been spent on car already...
Where do I send my mate? He has VE Maloo with 20k on the clock... Wants a roots type / V mount blower -Installed, tuned with clutch all fitted drive in drive out?
Obviously Formula tech can do the Walky supercharger one off Top Gear...
Can anyone give actual evidence or personal advice from a business in Perth?
Thanks in advance fellas

I think there is a mob near City Holden and also near Bibra Lake (Walkinshaw Performance??) that always has crazy Holden's and Ford's sitting there and having work done to them, I don't know more though, I just drive past them both on way to work, and on way home, or when I have to do shit for work in the area.

Shifted you'd be talking about APC on Newcastle street next to City Motors.

+1 for MWS, not cheap is an operative phrase though :eek3:
WA Performance will sort out your mate with install and wicked power/torque yet still streetable and safe tune too.
Also, post pics of after-install-high-smoke-circle-work-in-carpark or GTFO

Marks Workshop....as said he does cost a bit but can be installed with legal permits, etc if he wants
he is the supercharger specialist of perth
WA Performance and Active Automotive are two others you can look into
stay away from Formula Tech....u only have to have a brief look at ls1.com.au and ppls experiences with them to run forest run!!!!!

tell him to tuffen up. buy the kit from harrop and fit it himself.
not fucking hard by any means.
When i put a harrop blower on my ve i started on it on a saturday morning and had it driving out sunday night. It doesnt actually take that long to do, but i did a fuel tank swap and upgraded the pulleys to the 8-rib system which adds a few more hours changin pulleys and shit over.
I would offer to do it for him or give him a hand, but i allready have 2 cam changes to do when i get back next week.
Pro Auto have done a few harrop installs by now, so he should probably give them a call.
Tell him to spend the extra $$ and go for the harrop 2300 and run it on low boost. 8~9psi as apposed to the smaller 1900. That way he has plenty of leeway if he wants to go all out with a camshaft etc later on.
I've got a mate here in melbourne with a 2300 on stock ls2, stock exhaust etc and it's very smooth\quick machine.

Yeah he is planning on going the 2300 - and yeah i actually said we should do it ourselves!! but he works offshore and wants it done by someone who knows whats going on, ready for when he gets back...
Bit of feedback on everyones suggestions we went all over town today except Marks workshop.. (tooo farr)
Very rare but at every shop someone had the time and decency to talk to us and walk us through different options and show us on cars what was available - their workshops - work ethic - different shops had different styles of sales or chatting but all in all if I was a unknowing buyer I would have been happy to hand the keys over to any of them... All where approachable and happy to talk.
We went and saw WA Performance - Active Automotive - Pro Auto and Formula Tech
In the end it will be up to my mate to chose who he wants to go with as he wants the Walkinshaw blower and fuel system/ clutch upgrades also... Its going to be near abouts $20k so a bit of research isn't going to hurt!
Pro Auto have done a few of these and actually turned on, showed us some of the cars. Neat and tidy workshop - clean and well spaced out.. The showroom was neat and tidy - a few options of engine - brake - clutch - supercharger upgrades throughout. They were nice enough to take us into the workshop and lift up one of the cars showing us one of the kits being fitted and gave a competitive price within 10% of the lowest actual quote he has got since hunting a few weeks ago. The guy there John was helpful and friendly.
Active Automotive have a tight driveway and office area is small but that doesnt obviously affect their cars or thier work... We were shown a TT kit for the VE's by Bruno - Eddie was away unfortunately. Good power out of these 700hp+ depending on your PSI / fuels system ect.. Fucking awesome if you ask me.. Add 3 psi and get around 100hp so 15 psi or so would be a whole lot of fun! They seem to have some good combos for those looking to stay NA with their Cam packages too but didnt really have any roots blower options which my mate was keen on... He is looking for the blower whine and doesnt mind if he doesnt make as much power as the TT setups.. instant torque and around 550hp is what he is chasing.
Formula Tech have a new premises and Brett himself even with a bung knee show'd us around. Shop looked great has OZZY tyres next door which I think they share or its part of his business??? He personally turned on 3 of his cars - popped bonnets all with a limp ( strapped knee since a knee reconstruction ) Gave us in depth information on the blowers - the amount of capacity / clutch options. He obviously is a Walkinshaw dealer and was freindly enough to walk my mate through his options - what it would cost and what he would get ect... seemed genuinely interested in our business and queries. Said when he was ready to make a decision he'd take us for a wrap in one of his own cars which both have blowers on.
Wa Performance was our last stop. We were so tired and hungry.. haha! Mitch was on the phone so we dicked about. At first glance the shop is not as pretty as the others or as big, but when you walk down and see the 900+hp monster Pro something or other with the chute and integrated cage - dry ice setup you want to go for a closer look. As everyone suggested Mitch was easy to talk to and to be honest we did a lot of it! Mitch probably spent an hour talking with us on a few subjects but mainly what we were there for - getting the VE blown. Now straight away WA Performance is a smaller shop and Mitch told us he hasn't done many a blower setup but was still interested to provide us with a service. Mitch pretty much was honest enough to tell us he probably wouldn't be the cheapest or the quickest. But after speaking with him I think we left feeling it would be done properly, even though it isnt all they do... He seems to have a inkling for this stuff.. His knowledge seems endless and I doubt if you had any queries or objections about their work that he would ever turn you away. He was more interested in the goal my mate wanted to reach and help him get there then just offering services of what he specialises in... Dont get me wrong - none of the workshops were pushy or tried to sell us shit, Mitch just didnt have any restrictions. He was happy to look at any brand names - Turbo - Supercharged ra ra ra.. After hearing great feedback from Antilag users and seeing some of the cars around that have been done it really seems he has been doing some quality work..
I think everyone really needs to seek out their own opinions and do their own research... Only way to learn or get to know the marketplace! Hope this helps others when they are looking for a workshop!

I once had my xr6t tuned at FT in bibra lake. I came to pick the car up just in time to see the proprietor spraying down my turbo with a squirty bottle for of col water. I asked him WTF are you doing? "Im trying to get it up over 300rwkw":eek3:
The same guy organised for a well know tuner from the eastern states to tune my car, The deal was he was to give me a call when the guy was in Perth and i was to bring the car down. I never got the call (despite leaving my number with the office girl and ringing two days later to confirm they had my details)
The next time i week to the shop the owner comes out and starts screaming at me in the waiting area calling me a liar and a dog for setting him up so he would look stoopid when this other tuner came because they had no car to work with.......WTF??? He was supposed to call me???
He also told me at the drags one night that i wasn't to tell anybody what was done to my car and only tell people he tuned it if it ran a quick time..
Dudes on crack i swear
So in summary. DONT GO THERE:slap:
Mitch and Deb at WA Perf IMO are the only place to go in Perth with a job like this.
Great service, Really great people. If your mate wants some track time, They have also assisted customers down at the track getting numbers on a time slip, not just a dyno.

Fellas - I could go into more detail on each but it was a honest descriptive summary of what I saw today. Each shop has their merits. I guess you make of things what you will. My mate really uses the car as a daily so he is not after 90 / 10 shocks slicks and qtr times.. or is he after a dyno queen. ITs an all round cruiser which when he wants to lay tracks next to 6 hot skanks in the hummer Limo on the freeway at 80kms p/h than he can.

I have never spent any money with Mitch at Waperf and he has helped me over the phone / email 5+ times with issues i have had. Each time he diagnosed the issue over the phone and i fixed it that day.
Could not recommend him more.
I have also spoken with Rob at HoP and he has a lot of time to help out aswell and responds to emails very quickly

Mitch & Deb are great people and do great work on any car they turn out! They don't just tune for numbers on the dyno/strip, they have also built some very tough street cars as well. I'm a Ford owner so never had any direct experience with my own car at WA Performance, but have had lots of help from both Mitch & Deb at the track and on general advice about cars when needed.
Also, i think you should take a look at the Formula Tech utes with blowers on them & how they perform at the drags. They apparently have all this power on the FT dyno, yet can never produce the required mph to verify their wild claims. If they can't get their own car right, how can you expect them to get a customer's car right?
