View Full Version : Car Alarm Hookups?
Hey all, I'm after a Car alarm.
While my interior is in pieces i thought i might aswell put an alarm in it aswell.
Anyone got any hookups?
I have no idea about them, but im after a good one. With a pager or sms notices, all the sensors and that, and one that can be incorporated into factory central locking and arm with car still running (turbo timer). Or can someone suggest some, so i can shop around.
I did a search, but it all they all seam pretty old.
Thanks.
Matt.

Cheers Blake :)
Matt, our car alarms start from $490 fully installed with Ultrasonic & Glass breakage sensors. This will also control your factory central locking.
For the turbo timer interface, add another $40 as the alarms have to be modified by the manufacturer.
For SMS pager, they cost about $990 for ones that work and you'll need to provide us with a $10/month telstra sim card. I would recommend a better option of going for a GPS/GSM Tracker.
GPS/GSM Trackers are self monitored via the internet and you can have them notify your phone via sms when your car operated outside of set parameters set by you.
If you are interested, shoot me an email and I will reply with further information and pricing.

Hey Rob,
I gotta get in touch with ya once I am back on my feet.
Looking for installation of a Turbo Timer, Central Locking, & a full alarm system with the motion sensor stuff and pin-start up system.
Then later on an install of a basic sound sytem... but that would be later.
What would be a rough price range for the TT, CL & FAS with the goods? And does that all get put onto just one of those # button keypad type of stuff like a garage remote? Whats the cost of one of those?
Cheers,
Paul

Macey/Hayden at Westside Car Audio Cannington. Just pretend you like Subarus for a good deal
Macey did my full stereo install but more importantly he did the custom install on Ramon's F6F as swwn at Motorvation 2010. He knows his alarms just as well as he knows how to make art out of fibreglass.

Is the GPS/GSM tracker system like a fleetminder/carminder system? I reckon they'd be great if you did have a fleet to manage but for individual vehicles the cost is a bit high, not so much the initial cost but the on-going costs. But to insure something like a ferrari or lambo my guess is it would be a condition of insurance. Be interesting to hear your thoughts Rob.

prepaid sim card or a sim card on a $10 per month plan are the only ongoing costs you have

i was of the understanding there are also monthly tracking fees? This may depend on what brand system you choose and if so then would be good if someone could clear it up. Last one i looked at was going to cost $10/month for simcard and up to something like $360/year tracking.

We highly recommend the Fleetminder and Carminder systems.
The Fleetminder is our standard gps tracking system and includes 12 months monitoring via the website. I cant remember the exact price thereafter for tracking, but it is very reasonable.
The Carminder system is more directed at people who want reliable vehicle tracking on a budget. These systems are self monitored via regular sms's sending vehicle direction, speed and location...
The fleetminder is a much better system as it allows tracking via the website showing the map and live tracking.
Both systems require a $10 telstra sim card to operate.
We recommend our clients notify their insurance providers after having these systems fitted as they may get a further discount off of their insurance premiums. One of my clients saved a further $440 off of his yearly insurance premium in his VE Clubsport... That would easily offset the yearly monitoring fees.

$440 a year discount on insurance? Well thats pretty impressive!
Both the fleetminder and carminder systems are available to us here at work and im aware of the features of both. The call for such a product around here has been quite minimal though. Other stores in our chain have done a few, mostly for exotics/prestige cars. I personally think it would be rather handy to be able to unlock your car via sms with fleetminder when you've locked your keys in haha!
The way in which the product was explained to me originally was that it would only really benefit those looking to monitor multiple vehicles. Was good to hear the opinion of another reseller.

19y/o with a modified VE Clubsport... was paying close to $4500/year in insurance.
The product is mainly aimed at company's with multiple vehicles, which is where they went wrong... we've been selling these products mainly to individuals with expensive, modified or exotic cars...
Where you working? I might be able to offer our installation services at a great rate :)
