So far there are about sixty entries posted on the entry list with the closing date being the 10th. Usually they get about ninety odd cars.

Entry list is updated. Now runs to 78 entries - closes tonight.
There are also more 5A entries (Road registered udner 2 litres from memory)
There is also an entry for a Radical SR3 RS which should be interesting.

10-02-2010, 02:56 PM
Yeah just saw that earlier.
Keen to see the radical aswell however I don't see anyone coming close to Peter as per usual.
Quite suprised not to see the likes of Kim, Franz, Dick, Mike Joss, the Flood boys etc entered as yet. Might be a bucket of last minute entries.
FranZ
10-02-2010, 03:04 PM
Mike Joss is entered. I don't think Kim has a car to run? *shrug*
Tony Flood is only doing some rounds because he is doing the Australian Safari I believe, not sure about Peter.
I'm not running as Im running tomorrow night at the Rallysprint at the Motorplex.

Too much emo Franz, not enough Evo. :)
If you won't be needing it can I borrow that spare three one hundredths of a second please?

Super fast reply by Franz hahahaha.
I thought Kim had the TMR 9?
I might come watch the tomorrow night cause I work literally down the road.
Will this be you and Danny?
Djr18, is yours the white r32 with the gold LM's?
bjohnson
10-02-2010, 04:11 PM
Looks like that Radical has the bigger 1500cc (260bhp) motor.
Should be good to watch!
FranZ
11-02-2010, 09:16 AM
I was under the impression that Kim had sold the TMR 9. *shrug*
Me and Danny? I doubt Danny is entering in his MX5, his Evo is still over east.

Yeah I will be going. Going to be stinking hot though.
Anyone for the hill climb?
Darkside
22-02-2010, 12:02 PM
^^^ Am hearing you. Just checked the forecast. Perth is looking at 37 and 38 degrees respectively. I guess a couple of degrees cooler in Collie but still farkin hot.
Am going to have a crack at both "the hillclimb" on the sat and the sprints on Sunday. May as well make the trip down worthwhile.

Anyone know what the quickest way down there is?
Trying to decide if it would be quicker to head down Fwy/Forrest Hwy to Coalfields road or down Fwy/Southwest Hwy..
FranZ
22-02-2010, 02:26 PM
Definitely take the Fwy/Forrest Hwy now. Turn left on Treendale Rd (becomes Raymond Rd) left then right onto Coalfields Rd.
By far the easiest and safest way down!
bjohnson
22-02-2010, 02:51 PM
Cheers Franz!
Darkside
22-02-2010, 02:54 PM
^^^WHS. New freeway down to just before Bunno. Left turn into Treendale/Raymond Rd. (To Roelands) Then its a quick left then right at the south west hwy to get onto coalfields rd to Collie.
I used to be a fan of the Hopelands Road et al special stage but this way is far less stress.

Going down Friday night and doing both the Hillclimb/Circuit.
Where is everyone staying for accom?
Looking forward to yet another white knuckled entry into the left hander, after the long straight on the hill climb!
Also watch out for the hottie at the Caltex :P

23-02-2010, 12:17 PM
You can actually stay at the circuit. Not sure who to organise it with, however.
RK 86 WA
23-02-2010, 12:59 PM
You organise it with MSW and its free to use. But that would really be a last resort type of accomo.
We are staying at the Collie Motel as its a bit bigger and cheaper than Collie Ridge.
Godzilla
23-02-2010, 01:30 PM

Darkside: Prem Hotel? Is that the main bar in town? Went to the chinese place across the tracks last year and I swear I contracted swine flu from the overpriced meal so will be looking for some decent sources of food hopefully this time round.
Darkside

Yeah its the pub on the corner in the main part of town across the rail line. They serve some well priced decent pub grub in a restaurant out the back from the corner bar.

holy sh*T what a weekend,
Friday half way down the freeway blew my wheel bearing so drove back and borrowed a friends stock mk 5 gti (golf) which was decent to drive, although needs a lsd desperately.
Congrats to Will and Blaise, for 1st and 3rd respectively outright IIRC at the hill climb.
Overall a good weekend (won 5a at the circuit but since I was in the golf, was shunted to 5b and came second to the 180 sx dude).
Highlights:
- Collie finally has a consistant source of food.. Mcdonalds (I swear everywhere I have eaten in Collie has been rubbish)
- No damage from double demerits.
Lowlights:
-No one red flagging the idiot in the old beamer whos car failed on him on the back straight. The same idiot leaving his car in the middle of the track, me coming around the corner not knowing he was there, seeing him jump out of the car, onto the track 20m ahead of me and luckily enough not getting run over.
- Prime Wok (THE WORST FUCKING PHAD THAI EVER)
DanWA
28-02-2010, 11:28 PM
haha yeah prime wok is fail, try "the vic" and "the premier" for counter lunches other then maccas... subway is pretty decent to, its reopened if you didnt all know.
congrats on the win!

Heh will take note about the vic and the premier. Sausage and egg mcmuffins for breakfast started getting a bit nasty haha.

Also new Track record set by the Morley's which I forgot to mention, 46.xxx in their OMS.

In spite of what was said Pete has gone quicker. He did a 46.3494 last year compared to a 46.7569 Sunday. That said given how much of a mess the Bogan nats left the track in & the car issues he has it was a damn fine effort.
Also please don't have a go at the flaggies. The main problem is there are too few of them.

Agreed about the track state, there were chunks of rubber all over the place,
As to the comment with the flaggies, I am very much appreciative of their efforts as without them, events like this would be hard to maintain.
Not to mention that they volunteer which makes myself doubly greatful.
However I was still frustrated that someone had to leave their car on the track for all 3 flying laps in a dangerous position.
Anyway hope you get your 32 sorted in time for Busso.

Was a tops weekend. Great mix of cars which always makes interesting spectating. The hill climb course is a little one dimensional, but I cant think of anything else in WA where you are likely to hit those kinds of speeds. Being just about tapped out in top gear then braking over bumps into a tight left hander is always going to get some adrenaline pumping. :) Was good to meet some people down there. Sorry to hear about the car Richard. Glad you got it home with some help. And as said on the weekend, nice driving Will and Bart. Thats quite an animal to tame. Car is in to get a full weld in FIA cage in this week. Hopefully have it all sorted for Busso, and hope I never need to put it to the test. :)

^ Just out of curiosity what sort of power is your tme pushing? It was walking away from my friends evo 9 on the weekend!
Darkside
02-03-2010, 10:06 AM
Dont like to place too much emphasis on dyno numbers but it made 380hp at the hubs at all star so not sure what it would be at the wheels. What power does Irwins make? (Am assuming this is your friend?) No plans for any more development in this area. Havent focussed too much on power, just kept it simple. (Standard internal motor, 9RS turbo, standard manifolds, aftermarket intake pipe and IC piping with standard airbox). Trying to work on good grip and handling (a bit of sorting out to do in that department as its a bit loose) and trying to keep it light. Going to go backwards there with a cage and all the glass going back in. Am expecting to be slower next time out. Will be back to square one on handling with the cage in, but I guess thats part of the fun.
RK 86 WA
02-03-2010, 11:18 AM
Thats suprising news to say the least!
Power wise I think its roughly the same, (don't want to make exact figure assumptions on another persons car).
Regardless, very impressed with your times/driving on the circuit and I bet you gave the open wheelers a bit of a scare haha.
Darkside
02-03-2010, 11:40 AM
Cheers for that. Has been a work in progress and is my 3rd car build (although my first dedicated track car) so am learning a little along the way. Am trying to do it on as much of a budget as possible and get best bang for buck out of a pretty simple package. Am hoping to have the next phase (cage) complete in time for Busso and from there it should just be fine tuning rather than any quantum changes. Hoping to do as much of the SES as possible as it seems to be a fun series with a good bunch of people in it and nice variety of cars and events. Will come and say hi if you are at Busso.

prety short track and concrete bariers surround it. GTR's are geared way to tall for it, evo's and WRX's do much better.

There are actually some SES cars running tonight. About a dozen. I think it is approx 6.30 or maybe 7.00? Someone may know when.
And remember kids - it doesn't matter how attactive the sheila's are at the defence force exhibit. You won't see anything like that once the army sends you to Afghanistan....

Oh my, I remember those women at the defence force stand ;) thanks for reminding me haha.
The practise times are on the main SES website. Should be an intense field in the 4wd class!
6.30 I think it is as their drivers briefing is 6pm.
Will try and make it if we get down there in time.

Yes the concrete claimed a few cars on saturday
Tom Mullens Mk1 escort
Noel Desuza E30 M3 Evo Bmw
Jason Dorrington FD Rx7
Indika in the orange Wrx
Olef in his MK2 Sr20 powered escort
Ray Farrari Yellow West89 but he done more damage driving on and off the track as the front clip was catching the kerbs and pot holes in the grass and I think that there is one more but I cannot remember
Steve Jones won the day with a superfast time of 1m23.3 in his evo9rs
Peter Morley 2nd with a time of 1m25.8
Blaise Paris 3rd with a time 1m25.9

OK I guess, bit dissapointed how far off the pace I was, but still happy enough to be out there and racing. Best time was a 1:36:20 from memory. Still really need to learn the car and learn to drive. Watching the in car video i can see just how bad my lines are, intentionally cutting short corners and staying as far away from the barriers as I could, plus short shifting, not used to new gearbox/turbo combination. More seat time, I'll be out there next year doing a 1 minute flat

I wouldn't be too disappointed if you are starting out. The quick cars are both good drivers and they have good cars. Some are very, very good in both respects.
It takes quite a while to get to the point of being competitive.
If yours if the white early model WRX then it looked good hiking inside rears into the hairpin.
Mat(t), you're out there giving it a crack, much more an effort than us keyboard braggers, top marks for coming away unscathed.
Awesome effort from blaise in the top 3 with his diy EVO6TM.

He he . :) I prefer Tarmac Rally to Time Attack. It is built to a tarmac rally spec. Time attack for me would involve more extreme weight reduction, more aero and more power. (ie built/stroked motor) but point accepted, it cetainly isnt in the same class as your MR.

Nope. Might get some recci done this Sunday but unlikely. Am down buno way for Groovin the Moo on Saturday. Have a definate recci day locked in for the follwoing saturday but have to be back for scrutineering sunday. So be lucky to get one day recci done. As long as we have some notes to go off that will have to do. Is non competitive so really just out there to see if Raechel can keep her breakfast down and see how we both enjoy it generally. Should be a good opportunity for some "expressive" driving on the town stage. :) Sounds like I will be seeing you down there. 00 car?? :)
FranZ
13-05-2010, 10:00 PM
Yep! :) I'm going to head down this weekend for a look at the roads.
Advice: do as much recce/practice as you can; it'll wear both you and Raechel out, but it'll pay off. The quicker you can develop your own style with what you're comfortable with and then start to give consistent notes, the better off and happier you'll both be!
Keep in the back of your mind that Raechel has to become familiar with what her bum is telling her and what you're telling her along with the correlation to the notes to help her stay on the notes without having to look up as often.

Whos in this weekend?
Looks like its going to be a tough day. Weather temps are optimal for the old engine but far from it for grip. Me thinks the first few runs until it warms up are going to be relearning long track at average pace and saving everything for the after lunch/afternoon stint.
Saturday Cold morning. Mostly sunny. Min 2 Max 17
edit:
also its interesting that we are getting 5 timed 3 lap runs as oppose to the 4 we normally get :)

Well Collie looks set to be a good weekend. Unfortunately due to the awesomeness of my local car dealers spare parts division I don't have any way of getting my car there other than pushing it. Apparently three weeks delivery means six weeks delivery - to Melbourne. Awesome.

Awesome day out, totally worth the commute.
Managed to knock a solid 2 seconds off my PB, so I went home happy!
