Heard/seen this on the net a few times. Basically a friend of mine copped a small dent in her passenger door from a flying bottle. It's about the size of a 50c piece, and the pain is fine.

I said I'd take a look at it for her. I personally think I'll be able to knock it out from the inside (remove interior door trim etc), and gently using a hammer. Only drama with this is if there is something in the way.

Anyhow I've heard of using dry ice, directly applied to the dent. The metal apparently contracts, and the dent is popped out. I've seen it, but has anyone had experience if it works? Actual first hand experience.

I know you can get paintless dent removalists, but I think it's worth having a crack first. Even to save her $50.

Thoughts? Anyone tried the simple way of knocking the ent back out, very gently...?

i havent seen dry ice done but i have used ding king, pretty sure if dry ice was good they would have used it on some of the ones i had fixed by them.

if its a decent/good car i wouldnt fuck with it, probably ,make it worse - ding king is cheap

Just get Dentcraft to do it.

Is it worth risking the $50 you'd save, if you f*ck the panel up even worse, and then have to spend a few hundred at a panel beater?

I spent $500 with him recently, he rolled my guards and removed 8 years worth of dents from 12 panels (although some were more "impressions" than dents, I still wanted them removed because I'm a pedantic bastard)... car looks like new again.

$6 a kilo from box the last time I got some dry ice. i'd just drop some on the dent and see if it pulls out if not get the dent guy to fix it.

Dry ice isn't going to make it anyworse.

Exactly my thinking. Nothing to loose really. I'll take pics along the way, so if it works I'll do a quick tech article.

BOC gasses in malaga stock dry ice apparently? I'm in Dianella, just chasing the closest place to grab it...

I gave it a go on my car and it did alright then went to the panel beater and they fixed it for $30 bucks so you might as well go panel beater

Heat can also be used to pull dents up, did it at tafe using a poly welding gun. just dont burn paint otherwise of to panel beaters!

I have a couple small 20c piece size dents.. one in driver door and two in left hand quarter panel, don't really want to try fix it myself cos I am bound to fuck something up.

Is this the place to go to?
