Howdy All,

I am in the process of renovating my house and we are at the stage where the exterior walls need a bit of cosmetic attention. There is nothing wrong with the bricks at the moment, its just that I want a more modern feel to the house, so I was thinking of rendering the walls in a medium grey finish.

Is anyone on here involved in Wall Rendering or know anyone that does a good job without charging like a wounded bull?

I want to do the complete exterior walls of the house, plus the garden walls and retaining walls which I am building at the moment.

I also want to do a couple of stone cladding features out the front and one or two out the back.

Also, does anyone know anyone that does cement tile roof restorations and painting? I wanna get mine resealed & painted dark/charcoal grey before winter.

Cheers
Rob

There's quite a few companies that do the rendering, but I don't know any personally that do this for domestic applications. So I can't help there.

But som advice - renderers are notorious for being EXCEPTIONALLY messy. I mean really, really messy. One thing to be wary of, is that you have sufficient protection for your property. I.e. - cover all surroundings like bricks, walls, windows etc. I know it sounds like something the tradey should do, but 9 times out of 10, they will not. And when they leave, you'll have render residue and splatter over everything. pingpingpingping of a thing to clean up.

Alternatively make sure the contractor is fully aware you want the property left spotless, and ensure this is included in the price. Be very specific with how you want things left.

depends..you want it finished as a sand finish finished in like yellow sand colour, or finished with the cement colour which always look unfinished, or sand finished in grey cement and you paint?

or you can get a sand finish with the render then have it texture coated, like paint with grains oh sand in it, and the plasters just apply it like sand finish, can go pretty much any colour you can paint bar some. but that way is pretty exspensive, better off sand finish with paint of your choice, comes out nearly the same alittle rougher.

DO NOT USE WORLD OF PLASTER.

1) they leave mess everywhere, as in render splatter, and food rubbish. disgusting.
2) they do a shit job, we ended up getting another company to fix up their fuckheads
3) oh wait they do clean up, when they steal stuff off the property and proceed to hock it .. but hey what do you expect from a company that hires people fresh out of jail for robbery and drug convictions.
