RIP Oran Park

Just about now, the gates will be closing for the last time on the iconic Oran Park circuit in NSW.

I was lucky enough to walk the track at the first superlap in 2007, glad I did. The place wasnt in the best condition then, but it oozed history.

Home to many a ATCC/V8 championship decider, some massive accidents, and tons and tons of racing, the track is destined to become housing very shortly. Even when I was there in 07 you could see the bulldozers in the distance eating up the surrounding land.

RIP, youll be missed.

Shame it is. I raced at the Oran Park complex back in 88, 89 and 90. But even then there were re-leasing issues, and constant talk of closure, im suprrised it ended up staying so long. One less fantastic track.

Raced karts there back in 89/90 , Good place to watch truck racing ..shame to see it turned into housing :(

Dibs on the house block that goes where the old bridge was. Best time fo my life was slowly learning to hold it on the firewall coming off the bridge through the blind righthander.
