Hi guys.
changing headgasket on SR.
just wondering if i wanted to machine the deck on the block. does the block have to be disassembled or is it possible to have the Block deck done without disasembling the block?
cheers
normally allways done on a bare block, would be hell dodgey to see that being done lol

Needs to be pulled down to do it properly and the oil pump needs to be attached.

strip to bare block is the only way your going to deck it properly, however you would then need to hone it and put a new set of rings in, otherwise if your not keen on doing that you can purchase a facing stone which you can rub over the top of the block to ensure that it is flat and smooth and remove any lips on the cyl sleeve.
otherwise you will get crap drop down into your oil and water galleries not to mention the bore
