Posting this up for a good friend of mine who is looking to introduce another avenue for us to get out there and get some seat time.

Tentative event format
- Full day event at RAC Driver Centre
- 7 timed runs per entrant (14 laps total)
- Warm-up and hot lap (flying start/finish)
- Live results on the big screen showing each competitors lap time and the top 3 in each class
- Gourmet BBQ lunch included
- Vehicles will be broken into 9 different classes (as seen on the website)
- Trophies for class winners
- Entries limited to first 25 cars
- Approximate cost of $270 per car

See the website for more details
http://www.raventechracing.com/index.htm?page=events

Send an email now to keep you posted with dates and supp-regs when available! We need to receive enough interest to make this event go ahead!

Customer Survey - We care what you think. Please help us fine-tune this new event to make it better and more fun for everyone..
1) What is most important to you, quantity or quality (i.e time behind the wheel vs quality of the event support)?
2) Is it important for you to include your family/partner in a 1-day event (eg. entertainment for kids etc)?
3) Do you prefer a half-day or full-day event?
4) If you could include one more thing in an event like this, what would it be?

Please send your expressions of interest, suggestions and questions directly to Rianne at rianne@raventechracing.com or info@raventechracing.com

Any other suggestions/comments that are posted in this thread i can forward to the crew that are looking to get this up and running

Many thanks - looking to get some more motorsport/track time happening!

Yep keen as, just need to get car back running and will be down as for something like this....

I just emailed this to them,

What do you guys think?

Hi guys,

Just writing in response to a topic posted on the local website 'antilag.com' regarding a time attack event your planning.

First of all, great idea. Regardless of its format ill be down (pending a engine at hasnt blown up). I am in the final stages of completing a mazda that ive built for events like this.

My only suggestion to a succesfull event, would be to have a 'qualifyling' event a few weeks beforehand. My reasons for suggesting this are;

1) Drivers can fine tune and prepare their cars to suit the track layout and climate. Drivers could then have their braking marks, turn in marks all memoriesed for the hyped up main event

2) It gives the organisers a guarantee that the final event, can be really well promoted on the basis of only the fastest cars will be at the main event, so you can have the big money cars, with the best drivers, with the bbq's the big screens, the sponsors and car after car will be loud, fast, more than likley look like a race car. This, i think if you can advertise the event to fellow enthusiasts will get you the spectators that will really put this event in a different catagory to say a no limits night, thats a simmilar format. Then i think you could hit the 'festival' atmosphere with vendors and what not (if you wanted to take it that big).

Further to that point, if you look at superlap in japan or australia for that matter, you never see a sub competedive car. Personally i think especially with limited spots, if you have 5 evo's, 2 gtr's, and the rest are bog stock clubsports or something like that, the hype of the event may miss its point?

Not sure, your the organisers but i think that 'qualifying' round is really crutial if you want to get big numbers and for everyone to have a good time out on the big day.

Let me know what you think

Ta

Hmm after re reading that, i have made a rather large and possibly incorrect assumption that they wanted this event 'big'

"Big screens"
"live timing"

All says to me they want lots of spectators, not 40-50 people cheering for their mates.

I think you'll find that we don't have the population and the cars to pull something like you're envisioning off. At the end of the day, this will still be a club level event! :\

with only 25 cars, i'd suggest that they are only aiming at the club level anyway?

Great concept, would be interested at the time.

Well to give you more of an idea on the people that are putting this vision together - there are a small number people involved in this EOI including Michael Copley from Raventech Racing and Nick Gianco (someone you guys might be more familiar with)

He's been the big push from the beginning. For those in the scene - you'll understand that he's more than eager to take on your words of wisdom and put them to good use.

Yeah, I realise this, I know that Michael has been less than happy with some other events held in the Perth area....

My response was to Josh's email - ie qualifying events etc

Perhaps Franz, maybe im getting confused with what i reckon would be a awesome event and whats actually possible in this state.

Nevertheless, ill be in. Maybe if it gets heaps of interest something like that could happen.

All good

I dont disagree; the end result would be awesome, I just don't think we have the cars, the spectators and the most ideal venue!

Its good tho that someone is making an effort at an event that is slightly different to everything else currently offered!

Hi All,

Raventech Racing has just joined this forum to try and help with some of your questions. We will try to answer questions posted in this thread, or you can email/pm us.

The current course layout and completed supp regs can been seen on the website here http://www.raventechracing.com/index.htm?page=events.

I like the concept, however my ongoing gripe with the complex is their sub-standard display system for the timing results.

A new and larger display with a more friendly layout is deperately needed.

FranZ
25-01-2010, 11:16 AM
Gav, I know they have new timing; not sure if they have a better way to display results though...

A new and larger display with a more friendly layout is deperately needed.

MC Motorsport were using their new timing equipment in their first Targa event, but it wasn't connected up to the screen. Print outs at the end of each run were provided instead.

For the Time Attack Battle, we will utilise the new timing gear to collect the data, and our own software with widescreen tv to display the results. We can promise you that this will be the 'friendly layout' that you are after.

The updated Supp Regs, including the entry form on the last page, are now available to download from our website http://www.raventechracing.com/documents/Time%20Attack%20Battle%20-%20Supp%20Regs.pdf.

We are currently giving preference to bookings, from those people that sent an expression of interest. That said, there are still a few places available, so get your entry form in quick :)

Due to confirmation of our supp regs with the AASA, we are pleased to be able to offer a reduction in the price! The price per entry has been reduced to $245 :)

Entries are now open to the general public, and we've also updated the supp regs to allow the use of a race harness in the Street Class.

Is there going to be tears if I enter a car that is street registered but is in no way street legal ?

Ie no dash, interior etc ....

A note also you won't have many cars in the sub 2 litre class if your applying a turbo multiplier of 1.7. You'll be out there all on your own in your S2000 in under 2litre ;)

Oh and is E85 allowed as fuel ?

That's fine - there are plenty of other cars like that running in the Unlimited Class.

This is a standard way of splitting up the classes. There are other Honda's, MX-5's, Lotuses and also a Peugeot entered in this class. It's actually one of the busier classes.

Oh and is E85 allowed as fuel ?
Yes

We are also trying to organise a GT5 Playstation competition. We will have a wide screen tv, race seat, steering wheel and pedals to use. This will be open to spectators for a small fee, and also to the competitors. At the end of the event a trophy will be given out to the fastest 'virtual' driver!

With Easter behind us, it is time to give you an update about what’s happening with the Raventech Time Attack Battle 2010.

We are experimenting with the gourmet lunch; according to our friends it looks, and tastes, promising..... I believe they like the Dutch baking influence :)

Because AASA have stated that we are not allowed to have 2 cars on the track at once, we decided to come up with a new more exiting layout. This new configuration is somewhat longer than before, so we can now expect to have a minimum of 5 timed laps. Please find a new course map here http://raventechracing.com/documents/Time%20Attack%20Battle%20-%20Course%20Layout%20and%20Explanation.pdf

We have been putting a lot of effort into the new timing software. It shows the top 3 overall, top 3 per class, the last run and improvement graphs per driver.

The trophies have been ordered, they look classy..... so if you want something for your mantelpiece, it’s time to get your entry forms in. You will find the form (in the supp regs) here http://raventechracing.com/documents/Time%20Attack%20Battle%20-%20Supp%20Regs.pdf. Please send it through ASAP to guarantee your place in the Time Attack Battle 2010 at the RAC Driver Training Centre.

Really really good day.

Thanks to all the orginisers and others for putting on a well run, fun and competitive day.

The competition was pretty top notch.

I sucked as always but had a great time taking the drag car out for a few laps :)

Zeroyon you were one of the more entertaining cars to watch. Driving a high power car with a less than ideal setup = entertainment.

You did a great job.

Nice pics guys.
I went out there briefly with my wife and son around 11am.

How did the competitors find the skid pan section?
Of the 5-6 cars I saw run, I don't think I saw any of them take the same route.

I'd like to be there as a competitor next time.

After negotiations with WASCC we are happy to announce that the track time has been extended. The track will now be open for lapping from 6pm – 10pm and the award ceremony will commence shortly afterwards. This means that you can now expect a minimum of 8 timed runs, and hopefully more (time permitting). Also, we are very excited that fresh from his win of the Targa West, Pete Major will be competing in the Ex-Jun Pro Race Products Evo X. This car has set sub 1-minute times around Japan’s Tsukuba circuit, so we can’t wait to see this in action at Wanneroo!
