With the computer I use at work, I try and type inverted commas (") they don't come up until I hit the next key for some reason.

If I use the space bar as the next key, it doesn't bring up the space after it.

The same thing happens for the single quotation mark (') and these two objects as well (dont know'what they are called) (` ~). This only seems to be effected by those two keys (2 normal symbols and 2 alternate symbols while holding down shift).

I thought it only happened in MS Word, until I typed up this message and found it even happens typing this thread up now.

This effects everyone here at work, not just me.

Any idea as to what is wrong or how to fix it?

Sorry if it's a very vague explanation or unclear. If it is, shout out and I'll try find another way to explain it.

Cheers in advance
Damon

Got this too, out of curiousity are you using Win 7 or Office 2007 or both ?

Windows XP, Office 2007.

I used to have Windows XP & Office 2007 on the home laptop and don't remember having this problem.

I now have Windows 7 & Office 2007 on the home laptop and still don't remember having this problem.

Just because I don't remember it, doesn't mean I didn't have the problem though.

I have Win7 and Office 2007 at work and have this problem, XP and Office 2007 at home and dont.

Not sure if thats the reason however.

I think its keyboard related, as I have 2 keyboards listed, US and US International, have removed one but havent restarted to see if it fixes the issue.

How do I find out?

I've looked in the control panel Keyboard settings and there doesn't seem to be a place that specifies the region of the keyboard.

this has happened to me before

pretty certain a format solved the problem so it must be a changed setting

try using another keyboard if it still happens its definitely software related

keyboard region is set in the clock, language and region part of the control panel in win 7

Yeah, in XP you want "Regional and Language Settings" under Control Panel.

Make sure 'Standards and Formats' and 'Location' are both set to Australia (or English - Australia).

Chances are your computers are "crippled/locked down" by your IT Dept., so you may have to take it up with them, and get everyone else in the office to do the same, so they can change the language settings.

I've got XP with Office 07 too, no issue - however both my Win7 Laptop and the Vista home-theatre computer do the same thing, but as I never use those keys on either, I've never bothered to fix it.

I don't use them at home either, so not a problem, but at work it's an inconvenience. :( I'll check it out tomorrow.

Cheers for the feedback.
