how often should you service your equiptment?

as per title, how often should bodies and lenses be serviced by a pro? i'm approaching 36k photos on my 400d and wondering if they are due to be professionally cleaned around the 40-50k mark?

guess it wouldn't do any harm, I never have had any of my gear serviced, I just clean the sensor every few months.

I get my camera clean professionally once a year just before end of financial year :)
