'95 RZ Toyota Supra

As off the 11th of May 2010 - this car has become an economical repairable write-off. I cannot stress how important it is to NOT SWERVE if an animal is running across the street, just hit the bloody thing!

Hey everyone,

This is Dan's (IMACUL8) old car, just got her back on the road with the new Koyo Aluminium Radiator fitted so figured would post up a thread. The pictures are those that Dan took at the moment - once I get home I will post up some I have taken.

18" Tanabe SSR Professor SP-1s (275 rear, 235/245 front - can't remember)
HKS SuperDragger Turbo back exhaust

Pretty stock, but love driving her. :D

Plans for the next couple months:

New hatch trim (has a crack in it)
Tie Rod boot needs replacing on the left hand side
Tinting (limo rear quarters, rest darkest legal)
Pin start-up system & central locking
Automatic front lip (bought already, picking up on the 31st of Jan).
Then some interior stuff like dying the carpet and etc.

At the moment, the only changes since Dan has owned her, have been the new Rad, and removal of the Turbo badge. I will post up some more pictures tonight/tomorrow anyway. :D

Haha I wish, still learning how to control her at the moment! Went through a wet puddle today from a roundabout and unintentionally she slipped out a little sideways before kicking back into a straight line. Wasn't going too fast either, was a good learning experience though. :)

It does have suspension. Bilstein from memory, will have to check though. It is sitting lower. :)

I reckon my rims are better. :p haha Nah but I really like the look they give the car, so definitely keeping them, at least for a while.

Have a couple exterior/interior things I want to do first. Kinda a perfectionist so anything with a crack or something has to go. Left rear tail light has a crack on the black surround at the top. Just saw it then when I opened the boot. Have to find a light now. :p lol

Edit: tbh, I have read about how to do a burnout, never tried it though, front wheel drive autos are different. :p have to slap some rubber on some spare rims I have at home and go to town at the AHG centre or something and learn some more about this cars control.

Don't give it power if it starts going sideways (unless you know what you're doing) or else you'll get tank slapped hard and end up in a pole. Stock diff + no coilovers make the supra horrible when sliding.

Either get a ECU or a fuel cut defender, if you don't have the money for a ECU go the FCD, i've got a FCD in mine and it works fine. Mind you, getting a FCD will give you random boost spikes (usualy only on the first turbo), mine spikes up to 1.6-1.8bar (pends on how its feeling..)but as soon as it hits it, it comes back donw to its normal 1.1bar.

What is the average cost of a good ECU and boost controller? Assuming the possibility of a big single later on with a front mount?

It polishes up well, but sometimes (depends what angle you look at it) you can see the outline of the "turbo" badge. Not too fussed though as you can't notice it until you go REAL close and look at odd angles to see it. One day though I may try something to get rid of it all completely. Been told "cut & polish" but have got the guts to try it to be honest, afraid I will ruin the paint. :p haha

Well, it is my dream car, so losing this would be more than just devastating. :( so have to look after it!! haha

I love the rims, had offers on them already but not letting them go. Suit the car well. I am not a fan of the big bling chromies and that though some people can pull them off well. Actually had a girl come up to me and say it is a very sexy car but that is needs bigger rims and chromies (the 20" to 21" kind). I just looked at her with a "do you know what you are talking about?" face and drove off. lol She is 17 though I think, so doesn't know any better. :p

If you're going to paint the rims, do it properly... disassemble them and have the centres blasted and painted.

As a DIY, if you have any sort of mechanical knowledge, you can disassemble your own rims :)

Well, at the moment I am thinking just about that area in the centre as it has that dull colour but I don't think that is part of the Rim.

I can take things apart, just hard to put stuff together again. :( But will gain knowledge before attempting anything first. :p

People are telling you to paint the SPOKES section black and leave the lip/dish chrome. So it turns out something like this:

Honestly, if you don't know what you're doing, do NOT try this your self because you will ruin the rims. I know tech9 do sandblasting and colour change for around $40bucks a rim from what I can remember.

yeah not advisable to pull apart a set of SSR Proffessors if you dont know what you are doing. Those wheels are worth a bit of coin so don't destroy them. Just leave them as is perhaps?!

They are license plate guards. As far as I know, a lot of Supra's have them removed, but Series 1 usually have them?? Not sure... But I think I will be going for a CF set soon as will have a CF License backing plate, and then rear diffusers down the track.

Usually late model Series 2 have them. But you can buy them from toyota and put them on a series 1 etc.

Well, from what I gather (thus, what Andrew told us about it) it had something like 450hp at the rear wheels? He spent a fortune on the engine too (new engine and etc.)

Without being a douche theres no need to even look into powersliding until you are on open roads - maybe an aHG or use a bunky on gravel tracks to get a hang of the lack of grip ect...

If the place is clear enuff for us to park up for a while ill let you do one in my torana.. its easy Auto and you can feel what its like then we will jump into yours and ill show you how to get it started in your manual.. Always easier to learn in a bunky on gravel as if you can tell what a car is doing before you jump into a more powerful one and start dropping skids you will save yourself a lot of heartache!

Keep a look out for somewhere as im more interested in some proper good qual pics Ninja is going to do for me static and hopefully whil smoking in a natur'esque background! Where is that pad up in the hills people go to - i know its a private pad can someone organise for a handful of us to go up for photos + skids?

As of yesterday, my car is an economical, repairable write-off.

I did the dumbest thing I could have done, swerved to miss a dog running across the street. Hit a kerb and flew straight into a tree.

Sorting out Insurance now on whether to buy back the wreck and part it out, or whether to just leave it, move on, save money, buy another Supra.

Least to say, I am depressed at the moment, loved the car to bits, but shit happens. :(

Sorry to hear dude. Not the best feeling when you find out your car is a write off. When I had a big stack in my old S13, seeing the car all banged up just after it happened, made me feel so sick, that i actually vomited.

I cried so bad man. Just had a look at it and cried. When I saw it being loaded onto the Tow Truck, then lowered again off it at the Inspection area for Just Car, it was heart-breaking. :(


Fark dude that has had it's shit pushed in :( Very unfortunate. No doubt you'll be feeling pain from that tomorrow after the impact. Hope you're alright mate - cars can be replaced. I have never written off or crashed any of my pride and joys yet but I can imagine it wouldn't be a nice experience..

Ah it's hard to say what condition the motor would be in, I would suspect the front timing cover etc would be pretty banged up but it's hard to know. Would be good if you could thoroughly inspect it to give you an indication of the driveline.. 2jz + 6 speed + some good interior bits, wheels etc etc quickly adds up to parts you should put into a hilux or something and sell the rest ;)

I tried counting up roughly what the car is worth in parts. Prob looking around 12 to 15k in parts providing everything is sold at the price it is meant to be sold at. I hate trees. :(

It was a day away from completition look wise. All it needed was the front lip back on, interior dash panels fitted again and the active lip wired up and it would have been the exact way I wanted it.

Going to go down today with Dan (IMACUL8) whom I bought the car off, I had to tell him straight away what happened, will see what he thinks. The rims themselves are quite dear. Tyres are fucked now though.

The only car I have ever wanted is a Supra. I couldn't care less if someone gave me keys to a Ferrari today, I wouldn't take it. The Supra is the only car I can see myself driving and keeping for good. The only thing now I suppose is not to rush out and buy another one, but to find one bigger and better and go from there.

Looking for anything Series II (98 onwards) and Dan is having a look at what is in Japan at the moment. Even if it all drags out til Christmas this year, I will wait it out til the perfect one pops up. Save my cash til then and thats all she wrote basically.

Sorry to hear mate, as much as I love my car to bits, you have to put in perspective that it is a mass-produced Jap car, there are others around, you'll be back in the game sooner or later.

That said, as much of a financial loss etc that car is to you, having your dog taken away from you also is a gut wrenching experience. I think you did the right thing.

Having two dogs myself, I couldn't hit it. I just wish pingpingpingpings would look after their animals so they aren't running around the streets. This could have been avoided, not just from my own end, but from the owners of the animal. But can't dwell on it now, time to move on.

If I pick up the wreck for 5k, would be worth stripping and selling for parts, could easily get around 10k if not more all up once sold and the body is taken to Sims Metals. But, saying that, the chance is as well that you may not make money on it, and I would rather not lose any more money.

No loan, borrowed the money from my parents. Hardest thing to do was tell Dad, "Hey, wrote the car off today Dad, how you doing?"

I looked after it immaculately, was fixing stuff up as I went etc. Now its gone.

If anyone wants to see it in person, Just Car inspection area on Carbon Court. Just took Dan (IMACUL8) to see it about an hour ago. Even he said, "You fucked it good!" LOL
