If I were you, get stuck into your research fast. Can make decent coin back if you know how much to ask for.

Agreed, all JZA80 stuff carries over inflated pricing! Hopefully the Just Cars assessors arent as switched on and you can buy it back for a good price.

$5K would be an absolute fucking steal.

sorry to hear mate!!!

If you're interested into getting into another one, my cousin has one Silver, TT 6speed.

So you reckon buy it back if cheap? Would need help and would be asking a lot of questions on here! Any chance motor/gearbox could be fucked? Don't want to buy it back and its a dud...

In all honesty, if you're not in a position to be able to do the work yourself, or assess the damage....you're better off just leaving it. Yes, you could stand to make some money - but it's alot of stuffing around if you don't know what you're doing.

Take the cash, and buy another mate.

Yeah but I got a worry the jewels of the car are fucked...might leave it but whatever price they offer it to me for tomorrow, I will post up here. The assessor knows supra parts aren't cheap...lol

You hit a tree head on in the centre. This would push the engine and gearbox back. These items are bolted to the chassis so for them to move back something has to brake. Usually it is the rubber mounts but sometimes it can be the mounting points which can be a costly excersize to fix.

This also makes it hard to remove parts without cutting them out of the car. You (your words) dont know what you are doing. So you are better off to cut your losses forget about it and move on.

Hey mate,

Cheers but I will have to pass, I am not going to rush into getting another Supra, I am hoping to take my time with getting the next one.

Saying that though, if you pass me your details and details on the car, I will see if someone else I know is keen on it. Someone I work with has a non-turbo and wants a turbo Supra.

Guys, been offered the wreck for $5k!!!

Who wants parts or the whole car minus a couple pieces that I want to keep!!

Call me - 0404497059 to discuss. I will only buy back the wreck if I know people want the parts or the whole car!!

Lonewolf
13-05-2010, 10:22 AM
you may have better luck being able to sell the wreck to someone looking to convert their NA to turbo etc, saves a lot of hassle with stripping parts out and being left with a shell.

Sorry to here your loss mate, that is really unfortunate.

I have a friend who will buy your brakes (if they're 4pots?), probably will take them off himself if you cbf'd.
Let me know what you want for them.

Traitor
13-05-2010, 11:46 AM
Maybe buy the auto supra since interior is clean etc..

Transplant gearbox/brakes and whatever else into it and sell what you have left for a profit?

shifted
13-05-2010, 11:58 AM
LOL will let ya know about brakes mate, haven't finalised anything yet. Seems worth to buy it though?

@R34 GT-T:

Seems like a good idea, and that car is nice but I don't have the time to do it, would rather sell shit, make my money back and come out basically on par and buy another one.

As it stands, the engine, gearbox and basically, everything else is up for grabs.

I am considering selling the XA as well and buying a better Supra.

Otherwise, I know people that buy cars, import them, restore cars, fix cars, run panel shops etc. Depends if it can be fixed, if it can be fixed well and isn't too expensive, I would fix it and sell it.

Depends whats to happen. :)

As far as I am concerned, the car doesn't have those bits. LOL

He said he just wants all the running gear, engine, gearbox, diff, brakes etc. Want I want to keep is not running gear.

Anyone know someone that could look at the car and see if the engine is all good? Cos I dunno what the fuck to look at. From people I spoke to, they reckon it will be fine.

Just look through / underneath and look for cracked casings, leaks, etc. Looking at the photo i would put money on the engine being wrecked. But its only a photo.

Edit it looks as if it might be good

jeez, how fast were you going when you swerved, cause it takes balls to take that kind of evasive action (most people just jump hard on the brakes when something 'jumps out at them')

looking at that impact it was only luck you didnt kill yourself & that the impact was at the front - typical of a low speed understeer/loss of control.

next time hit the dog.

Seems like some people are beating around the push with some skepticism in regards to how the soupla ended up in a tree.. Any reason for that?

Judging by that last photo I'd say you're at least missing a couple of hose clamps ;)

I don't know, don't care either to be honest what other people "reckon."

I cared for the car miticulously, if I wasn't happy with something, I would get it fixed straight away, it was washed and polished all the time, and stayed under a car cover when un-used. Would have been garaged but XA is in there.

I have accumlated some spare parts and spare trim because of being unhappy with things that were scratched, or had a crack in it or something.

And end of the day, yeah, I drive my car hard, just like any other cars I have - I am at fault here but I wouldn't risk wrecking my car for the sake of being a "sikkunt" on the road.

Everyone is quick to assume - but like I said in an earlier post, if your going to hack at me or someshit, GTFO.

I was absolutely shattered when this happened - and seeing as I borrowed money off my dad to buy this, how do you think it felt telling him, hey? I put a lot of time and money into this car myself, so I am beyond pissed off.

I posted this all up to ask for advice and opinions on the wreck because I have never been in this position before, don't have what I am asking for, please kindly stay away from the thread.

Edit: I have two dogs. I don't care what anyone says, I can't fucking hit the dog.

To the people PM'ing me about parts etc. I haven't yet decided whether I am buying it back or not, it is all being considered at the moment. Whichever I decide, please do not take a non-reply in a bad way, I will reply in due time when I find out exactly what is happening and where I am heading.

At the moment, someone from Sydney wants to fly over and check over the car and buy it as a whole providing I buy it. Priority will go to him if he takes it all, cos I cbf parting it out, and I wouldn't know the first thing to do. If he doesn't take it, I will post up a wreckage thread with full details etc. obviously depending.

you just said you dont care what other people rekon on this so why do you care about my opinion.

also i didnt hack at you, i was happy to leave it at your answer to my question above, i was answering agit8d's question.

yeah must have been hard telling your dad, i know i would have found it real hard doing the same.

and if you cant hit a dog while driving your car you should hand in your lic, its what the law says you should do rather than losing total control.

but if you lose control next time, remember 'in a spin both feet in' :)

Sorry dude, I didn't mean to be harsh just on edge at the moment so getting pissy at everything. :(

I know your meant to hit it man I know that, and after this, if there is a next time I don't have a choice. Wasn't what I was thinking at the time though.

Just hoping everything is ok with the car tomorrow and it is worth buying the wreck back.

If that other guy is keen on it, let it go, thats a decent sized hit and I certainly wouldn't repair that and keep it, regardless of how much you love it.

I wouldn't repair it. No point. Don't have the time either.

Just wanted to see if people think the engine/gearbox should be salvageable. :)

My apologies if I have offended anyone as well with anything I have written, I know I am an arsehole but really on edge at the moment still. Anyway, will see what happens tomorrow. Dan (IMACUL8) is going to come down and see it with me tomorrow, have a look and go from there. :)

He couldn't believe it hey.

I took him down to the inspection yard and he just went hand to head and said, "you fucked this thing good." Then he had a laugh about it. Then he said he will find me a better Supra. LOL

Since then I have looked at 5 already but none have struck me out like this one did when I saw it first.

Yeah I know, have to figure out a way to get the bonnet open tomorrow to get in there and see. Haven't tried running it, as soon as I hit the tree I turned the motor off.

Fucking hell.

Poor car.

Box wont be fucked, no chance.

Need better pics - but its not like a subaru where if you push the support in too far it cracks the covers and snaps the belts.

Looks to be a gap there, should be ok. But need better pics.

Id buy the pingpingpingping for 5k, and then a supra front cut minus motor and give it to a panel beater. For 10k someone could have a nice Supra.

Car is 15 years old so rego isn't flagged. Car stays registered. Anyone want compliance plates, etc? Or is that illegal?

Who is Jason? There was a guy on Supra Forums trying to sell a rolling shell freshly painted for 20k a while ago. Everything buy engine and gearbox from memory.

@DJ84WA...

Car is not being fixed. It will be parted out. Motor and gearbox are fine seemingly - car starts and runs fine. I will be pulling everything out though and replacing the mounts etc. to make sure it is all aligned fine and running fine when I fly back home in a couple weeks. Until then nothing is happening on it. I want to make sure everything is ok before I start selling bits of gear off of it.

Moving onto a Series II RZ sometime in the future - don't need a car at the moment. :)

If you are interested in the engine and gearbox combo etc. PM me with your contact details - there is registered interest in it at the moment for the same things you want so I will go through the order as per the PMs received. :)

Cheers,
Paul

has the drivers strut tower moved in towards the motor, hard to tell by the pics.

just looks like it needs a nose cone swap

shifted
22-05-2010, 09:43 AM
No, it needs a front nose cone cut - about $2800 from KYP + a new tailgate - $400 from KYP. Labour is around $4400 (including paint and all that shit).

Can be done, engine will need to be taken out, gearbox mounts and engine mounts checked over/replaced and put back in, then basically done.

Adding it up, your looking around $8500 - $10000 to fix. Can be done, but I can't sell the car after for good money. Easier to wreck and buy a new one.
