Check your email if you haven't already, all the plans got upgraded.
We were on the 50GB on/70GB off now its 75GB on/75GB off. Had to follow the link in the email to upgrade straight away, or can wait 30 days and iinet will upgrade automatically.
Also Peak times have changed. On Peak is from 9am to 1am and Off Peak 1am to 9am.

Hrmm...not a fan off the new off peak time.
I always set my torrents to kick off when I leave for work at 8 and on weekends I would hammer the net in the mornings knowing I had plenty off off-peak quota to use till 12pm.
I guess with the increased quota however - it should not be too much of an issue.

Seems if you are an ADSL2+ customer with VOIP but no bundles phone - there are no changes.
:(
Existing ADSL2+ Customers Not Bundling Phone1 Service but With VOIP
May Stay On Their Current Plan Without Any Change As Their Plans Are Being Grandfathered #2
As a result of that it's pretty unanimous that if this is you, then if you don't want to bundle your phone – do nothing and remain on your current plan. iiNet have chosen not to be competitive in this particular combination whilst other ISP's may be, but you aren't 'worse off'. And certainly if no iiNet customers had received any changes you wouldn't be complaining about what you've got (ok some of you would be). These particular grandfathered plans have an indeterminate lifespan #1 though.
no change from home 1-4 :(

I'm on 'Home 3' bundled with phone and have not had an e-mail as yet about the changes. However in tool box, I am already upgrade from 10/25 to 30/30.
The new on and off peak rules have changed back to the old rules of a few years ago and suck BIG time. I was really glad when they did change it. It's now back to leaving the computer on overnight to use up the download limits again. My toolbox for on and off peak times are still the old times.
Beware - the times on iinet's website for on and off peak are different to above for home 1-4 and home 5-7.

Seems iinet is trying to convince customers to bundle with their phone service.

Who uses home phone much these days?
We hardly use ours, but we have home 6 because at the time it was the cheapest and best around.
Also not a fan of the new Peak times, but I usually download everything at 2am anyway, so not really much hassle for me.
Also, your download counts towards when ever you started it, so say you started the download at 8 and it goes into peak time, its still considered and off peak download.

You sure about that?? Can't be, so if I start downloading 30 massive torrents in off peak, and they finish 24 hours later, that would have all come off my off peak limit, but not peak. I find it hard to believe.

only bundled home is changed, voip and standalone is unchanged
also, 9am-1am peaktime is only for the top plan, all other plans are 8am-2am.
reason you receive an email is legally we have to give you 30 days notice when peak/offpeak periods are changed. so you have the option of doing it now (which all new customers will receive) or in 30 days when we can legally change all customers to the new peak times.
and insinr8r, incorrect, if you start a download in offpeak and it continues on into peak, it WILL come off both allowances.

Why is it that when I click the upgrade link - It shows that my off-peak quota will drop from 45 to 30? (I am on Home 5 + VOIP).
Or is this optional - in which case why? No one in their right mind would opt for that option seeing you get less quota. Also to confirm that it will not change over automatically in January?
It sounds to me as if iinet are not interested in offering increased benefits to their VOIP customers or no longer offering/supporting it in the future?

Ur downloads always tick over to watever time of the day it is, if u start downloading at 10pm and leave it till next morn then the quota changes to offpeak at 1am but u still use both on and offpeak for that download
Also i like the new capped net speeds if u exceed ur download limits. its no longer 64kb/s its now 128kb/s :)

That is correct.. Same as I am on the home 6 +voip.. would drop from 50 + 70 to 40+40.. basically they have taken away any of the bonus that they gave for choosing to add voip and get the higher limit, and moved it onto phone instead.
The cynics among us would say that there is more money to be made in phone than voip..
Just choose not to change plan and stay on the current one.

I don't, I've always checked. If I start mine off peak, it stays as off peak usage until its finished, provided I don't stop/start it.
I've had heaps of files go into peak time and when I looked at my usage for the day, it wasn't counted as Peak usage.

yeah the extra downloads that you used to get with VOIP are out the window (unless you keep your current plan).
I was on home 3 + voip + telstra line rental.
Moving to IInet for phone, dropping voip (which I only had for the extra quota), will mean i will pay the same amount overall, but get 30/30 of quota instead of 10/25.
WIN!

Not true. I got caught out one month doing that, had bulk offpeak and fuckall onpeak, and it ticked over and shaped me. Rang iiNet and they confirmed it goes by the time you're downloading, not when it started. Maybe you got lucky.
75/75 now for freeee is good tho. I download in the middle of the night also.

they added more bandwith on some exchanges due to congestion, perhaps you were on one of the suffering exchanges.

The times will change, trust me. Got an email too, unbundled Home 4. Got an extra 5gb Peak but new off-peak/peak times. Not that they affect me anyway, just use scheduling or I'm up before 8am and if I download non-stop til 8am I'd go waaaay over quota lol.

unfortunately not, bundles are the focus for the upgrades. westnet plans are the same, upgraded quotas but only on bundled services.
how is the alarm affecting it? line owner won't affect it - it's only a normal phone call after all
