Couple of pics of my dual rear swaybars that I snapped tonight during a failed attempt to swap tailshafts... I did this a few months back for a bit of fun / experiment.. and they work well so I'm keeping them.

The new link pin setup:

The brackets and spacers look dodgy but are holding up very well. They were only meant to be temporary, but since they work so well I am leaving them as they are for a while at least :)

From behind the car you can just spot the second swaybar if you know what you're looking for:

Nobody has managed to spot it yet, except for a mechanic I used to use, who got the car up on a hoist and said laughing, "What the **** is that!?? I've never seen that before in my life!" Made me laugh, how startled he was.

Not that I suffer any illusions of a VN being a fantastic handling car, but the super stiff rear end is such fun when you hang the tail out (not that I do it on a regular basis) and great for grip out of corners, negates a major con of minispooling: no grip on corner exits. These bars and the spool seem to complement each other nicely.

Let me know what you think :)

Nice thinking 99 well if it works it works
twin sways with spool what works there not the tyres surely

haha it actually grips surprisingly well :) a lot better than with the spool and one sway anyway.

and if you hang left, instead of the big rear end upset and snap back to centre, it just glides out to the right instead. Is nice.

Does this basically have the same effect as fitting a real fat swaybar, except its a bit cheaper i guess? :)

31 owners been doing it for awhile now , never tried it myself

Looks like alot of flexing points with all that rubber / nolethane. If you could remove them somehow (welding the bars together or a thicker one, i would imagine an even stiffer rear end

Looks good mate, cant imagine why it wouldnt work well.
In theory its basically the same as a larger single sway bar.

Yep!

That's where I got the idea to be honest, it seemed like it could work OK and a mate had a spare bar so I figured I'd have a crack and see what happened. If it was shit it would be easy enough to go back to stock.

I don't like the idea of welding spring steel... seems like a lot could go wrong and end up with a pretty messy sort of surprise if you're unlucky..

Yeah although I'd imagine it would have to be a fair damn thick bar to give this effect... I don't know though, I've never upgraded a swaybar properly :)

I really need to get around to replacing the rest of those crappy rubber bushes, I just put it all together with whatever I had laying around.

Nah not a 5L, just a POS V6, a fresh rebuild VR engine. Goes alright. HOWEVER that engine shouldn't be in there for long. Bigger and better things and all that.

Unfortunately I deserve no credit for breaking ground here, as DISTRBD mentioned, the '31 guys have used this type of thing for ages, and it turns out VN_Luke from JC forums did a similar thing on his VP years ago, but with both front and rear.
